This isn't actually half bad. Simple technique for people first getting into the whole, space scene area. However, making planets in this manor really restricts their flexibility *IE you can only do this effectively on a black background* compared to creating a fully texture planet.
Not bad though.

Mmmm, theres many planet tutorials out there. Theres a very good one fully textured and has great effect, and ive seen this tutorial around somewhere :S Anyway nice one.

Well actually, the black can be on a different layer, so it can be anything you want; such as stars or just another color. But other colors dont work good ><
