    [Question]Knife Reflection

Ok so today at where i work i was assigned the task of making a photoshop design where that would campaign anti knife crime.

The idea was to have for example a big kitchen or butchers knife... and had in the knife reflection of possibley a family or a mother...

So the flyer would be like "Think, you could harm the ones you love" you know what i mean something along those lines...

I was thinking possibley a kitchen that is out of focus in the background (gaussian blur) and then a child holding a knife in the forground with the reflection...

I was just wondering how you guys would go about this? for example making the reflection in the knife...

    Any ideas?

Scale the family picture down, adjust the color of the knife so it looks like it would reflect the wall behind the family, add some artifacts (most kitchen knives aren't entirely even) blur a little and then go for the rest of the picture
    on this one
    http://www.racheshop.de/product_imag...81630000-1.jpg
you can see the artifacts pretty good (artifact -> uneven reflection)

(also I know that this is a toy knife, but that still is kind of the effect you wanna achieve)

I get what your saying, but for some reason the reflection isnt convincing... it doesnt look real :/

I get the picture of the blade, then get a picture of a family sitting on the couch... and use the soft light blending option to put the f amily in the blade, edit the curves a little of the blade.. Gaussion blur the family a little... but i dunno it looks shit :/

could anybody quickly by any chance whip up a quick design of the knife with a family reflecting... i wanna see how you come of doing this... i feel im doing it completely wrong

This is what i have so far...

Ignore the background and just try to focus on the reflection itself

Too visible reflection, too dark as well. Lower the opacity and lighten the reflection and it'll look better

by the way the image inside the knife is supposed to be quite clear as that is the focal point on the poster... the family reflected in the knife

When I first read the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about getting rid of a pesky graphics section legend... WUPS.

Create a black and white layer over the reflection, lower its opacity. If advanced, just take the yellow away.
Make a layer mask on the reflection layer, take a soft brush and erase some edges so it looks realistic.
Bring the exposure down again and try if you can raise the contrast with it still looking realistic
