Death to all but Metal.
Nice looking but nothing unique. But then again, nothing with the focal of an eye is unique per se in my opinion.
Well done though. It looks quite realistic but it could be a bit better to also show the old eye a little bit so it's not JUST a globe. You might have done this but I can't really tell. Furthermore, the overall desaturated image needs something to stand and in this case it'd be the eye as, well, it's the focal after all. What if you added a layer mask to mask the saturation adjustment so that the eye preserves its default highly saturated glow? It needs something to really drag your attention to the focal, at the moment it's quite dull and not interesting at all: light and color-wise.
Nevertheless, I am glad that people are moving away from the down-low and relatively safe signatures to the adventurous world of large art![]()

Wow Reflection, you really do have a good eye.
I am pretty bad at using layer masks and all, I'll see what I can do.
I think I failed at layer masking:
Totally do not know how to use it, that and vector masking.

It's nothing complicated at all: add a layer mask to the layer you want to add (the [()] icon at the bottom of the layers' tool palette), adjustment layers normally have a layer mask by default and just brush with a soft brush with the layer mask selected. If you brush with BLACK, you HIDE elements of the layer. If you brush with WHITE, you show them again. If you lower the opacity of your brushes (up at the top) to say 50%, all you brush is hidden by 50%.
Use a tutorial if necessary, I'm sure there are plenty around.

I think I got it:
Watcha think Reflection?
Death to all but Metal.
Doesn't seem to have improved the saturation that much, it's still pretty dull. It has more colors but it's not that light, how about some soft brush (not layer mask, normal) on a new layer and set it to soft light/overlay something to increase the light?

Did the soft brush, with a soft light layer. I'll read what you think tomorrow, going to bed.

Much better

Try to make the eye more glossy and shiny sort of like the original eye. Nice job for a first.
edit: here made this for you, dont have to do it but i was just trying to toss you a little tip.
>>Fill with white, play with the opacity.Use an eraser if it looks too unrealistic and square. Then possibly use a large white brush (circle) on a separate layer above of the adjusted opacity fill.

heres my try from your "after reflections advice"
what i did was played around with the bevel and emboss blending options. what i did was made a layer of all white, over the entire "earth" eye and then i messed with the settings under bevel and emboss.
then i added a little circle for some better lighting effects, then bevel and embossed again.
Also did what i told you originally.
Only spent like 2 minutes doing this, but was just to help you out and to lead you in the right direction.
let me know if you want the .psd

Although I am not a fan of adding the whole glossy look to the eye.
