Use Photoshop brushes from deviantART: where ART meets application! , your background doesn't flow well and also the text should have a stroke or gradient added for better effects (In Blending Options).

For your first it's pretty good thoug. :P

not bad for your first, i can tell with practice youll get really good at it , just try more blending and different coloring schemes

If 10 being perfection, probably 2-3. You need to add a light source to make it less cartoony and more realistic, but that's my personal preference. You also should add more c4ds on top of the render layer, depending on the focal of course. Since this is your first signature experimenting, here is one thing i would like you to try... adjustment layers! If you make a gradient map set to color and lower the opacity, or add a photofilter, it will make the render in this case a color that blends well with the surrounding.

So overall. I'd give it a 2.5. Just keep experimenting and try out the tutorials I linked you. GJ for your first sig.
Always remember this: The rule of 3rds. If you divide your image in to 9 sections equally, the intersections are where your focal point should be near. It adds liking to the eyes and doesn't make you look all over the place.

I lol'd Brushes aren't what you use for good sigs, also, try and get a better render and use a more suitable background. Go on DA and maybe just say "Castle" or "Old Village", then open that image and place it onto the signature then Ctrl T + Shift it down to size.

there are copyrights on these pictures, that is the only copyrights i respect cuz the place is so awesome!

anyways it's a quite good tag for a 2nd, but your first is quite bad :P
anyways ive also work with that render a long time ago quite easy to blend with the proper skill and technique, smudge and then some lightnings on to some of the light spots of the smudge, ive just made it, so you might better understand it.
