This is the first sig i have ever made, what people think?

Pretty good for a first sig. Things that I dont like: Colors dont fit to the render, render isnt blended in very well and C4Ds aren't the best things for first Signatures.

You should pick two matte colors from the Render, then select the backgroundlayer and go to "Filter -> Render -> Clouds" this will make a Background fitting to your render.

Now you could duplicate the render and play around with the smudge tool (89% 15px Scattering on, Controls -> Pen Pressure) (Like Narudan teached me :P)

Smudge a little at the Borders of the render. Now set it to linear dodge and play around with the opacity. make a new layer and do some abstract, grunge and splatter brushes. You may set the opacity a bit lower.

Play around with some Gradient maps

Download a big Font-Package, make a little decent text that doesn't hides the render (focus)

Make a border (White almost always looks good)

Now a new layer, then "Image -> Apply Image" then you go to "Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen" Erase parts that you dont like.

alright..

1) i can see you love the wave/ripple filter, but it's not working for you
try smudging, see if that works better. there are so many smudge tuts for ps out there, it will stain your underpants. there are so many because there are so many different ways you can mess with smudging, and so many end results. the wave/ripple filter is ok to use, but i cant say i like the way your using it

2) the reason your last sig looks better is because the background colors match up to the render good and the background doesnt look like radioactive vomit. the assassins creed and 300 ones scare me. the angel one isn't any better. you can use colors that go with it even if they arent on the render also. winter, spring, summer, fall. stuff like that. the colors go together, so use them.

3) try not to center your renders too much. shifting the focal to the left or right almost always improves the overall look of your sig, and allows you more room to add effects that enhance the flow to one side as well as more room to implement lighting to go with it, if you so choose. lighting and effects both work to add depth.

4) thay have no depth. lol. seriously, though. the renders sit on top of everything, and that never looks good. blend them in a little. overlay some effects on top, throw in some lighting, use some cool smudge setting and smudge the outsides of the render(not the face- stick to legs and sides of things if you can).

5) make sure you use good quality renders. the only one with a problem really is the angel guy. his left(our right) wing is cut off at the bottom. if they have a problem like that, hide it with effects or shift it off screen..or just don't use it

you're new to sigs, so you have a lot to learn. don't give up, never take criticism personally(if they attack you personally or say that it looks bad without giving a reason, tell them to eff off, because they're trolls), and always looks for new techniques and new ways of doing things that will make you better.

and make sure you enjoy working on things. if you don't enjoy learning and creating, and taking the criticism to make you better, then stick to requesting. there are some people i know that would be better off doing that.
