Welcome to AscentEmu.com again, everyone. After watching OpenAscent (and numerous other projects) fail miserably, Burlex has decided to revive the home of the Ascent emulator once more.

Does this mean Burlex will be returning to an active developer status? No. His position remains the same: Ascent development from him (and a few others) is on hold while they work on Summit--a closed source version of Ascent. Don't ask for it, you won't get it. In the meanwhile, the community now has a place to develop Ascent further if they wish.

OpenAscent, being the most successful fork of Ascent during it's absence, has had it's commits all merged into the AscentEmu.com repository, which you can find in the announcements section.

With that said, welcome back!

I think that every guy has a chance. Hasbro worked his way up. He didn't do anything bad, in turn, he did ALOT for the OpenAscent community. I don't understand why people got onto him for it. Trelorn did ALOT for the scripting side of the project, and its not right to throw assumptions around. This was written from Hasbro's point of view, which is different from every person in the worlds. I don't know if the information he gives is true, only that I thought he did a marvelous job at OpenAscent.

Hasbro hasnt done shit on Ascent and is asking for donations? Burlex worked on this shit for years and didnt ask for a penny.

But the other side of that coin is also Burlex chose never to ask for donations and just as Ascent was his project. OpenAscent is Hasbro's project. Which regardless of what Tom, Dick or Harry feel he put into the project. It is still his project to chose to ask or even accept. Just as it is the same right as a open ascent user like Tom, Dick or Harry to choose to donate or not to the project.

Look how many repack servers makes thousands off donations. All they did was download it from RapidShare and OMG Fun Server!

Well from what I saw, and when we were talking on IRC, hasbro is the one who screwed up badly. He was trying to remove Trelorn as the project leader, and his IRC channel ownership. He had a second chance, trelorn said it was ok that he can use openascent.org, but he said hasbro is not to accept donations of any sort, and to listen to trelorn. And that Trelorn is gunna keep hosting SVN, and stuff as long as hasbro does not screw up. Well when we were on SVN, hasbro was talking with some one in a different channel. And he told us what hasbro has said, and hasbro was trying to remove trelorn from the project. So trelorn pulled the plug on hasbro. And I think that was the right thing to do. He put it back up with burlex under ascent emu. BUT burlex is not working developing for it.

Right now thats the most I know, and can remember from that night on IRC. :P I was tired lol.

I hope Summit releases but then again will summit go away like ascent, and open ascent ever time something goes wrong?? I think that we should all QQ and work together its time we got used to being human beings. Fighting for leader ship is something we do even though some times we don't deserve it. So with that being said i give my best regards to Ascent and burlex and trelorn and good luck to hasbro and all of them.
