I'll be making this post here and update it with the latest leaks that i find.
Bad review of SWTOR, all credit goes to betacake for it
"Someone sent us a negative beta review earlier, saying that he also canceled his SWTOR pre-order because as a PvP gamer, he thinks the game doesn’t offer what he was looking for in an MMO.
Check it out below.
SWTOR Negative Beta Tester Review
Beta tester here I just wanted to let you know Im canceling my CE pre-order and have some info inside contained as to why. I will continue to give feedback to the site if this is posted or if the xcore PvP players want more info. If you’re a PvE carebear I want this game to consume you so you stay away from any game with decent PvP. This is just the general feeling I get as a Xcore PvP player and going through the game.
PvP isn’t bad warzones are actually quite fun until you notice your a lvl 20 pro BH healer with a maxed out Valor rank (goes up to rank 20) . I used to be an epic PvP healer in WoW, aion, darkfall, etc. Then, you will get really tired of farming 3 instances that aren’t even designed that spectacular (lots of downtime on voidstar and imbalanced map without cloak detect).
My real problem with this game is that There is no world PvP in this game at all.(or not until the later levels and even then highly discouraged) I truly believe this could’ve been the best part of TOR because the combat is a lot of fun and I enjoy the moves and animations but they choose instead to focus on PvE and a ton of voice over work/scripting.
If you like instanced care bear gameplay this is for you!
If you enjoy PvE this is for you!
If you like solo quest play this is for you!
If you like doing quests with a friend(s) this is for you!
If you like to re-watch the same convos over and over this is for you! ( many arguments will ensue in groups even in beta. They will cry “why aren’t you pushing space bar?” if you join a random group and the player has already seen the story or simply doesn’t care)
If you like world PvP and hate going through poorly scripted quests and carebear content then take a hike. I want to Lvl up and experience world PvP conflict through the game but guess what?
It is non existent until 25-30 ( this might not sound that bad but if you don’t enjoy quests your in for a headache and its essentially 3/5ths of the game) The guards are simply waayyyy too overpowered at all zones and zones spread far apart from opposite factions to basically ruin world PvP on PvP servers. WoW made the quests intersect more TOR did the opposite and made it hard to even find PvP whatsoever.
You cant lvl in warzones btw it takes EONS! YOU MUST DO TONS OF LAME QUESTS IN ORDER TO LVL UP (the class quests can be alright but thats it and you gotta do more than your class quest to lvl up effectively a LOT more). A slap in the face to the Xcore PvPer. (PvErs might be happy I personally didn’t find the questing to be fun especially as a healer) Heroic mobs are given huge health pools and it takes forever to take out a small group rather then taking skill in my opinion. Although as a healer it was a challenge I enjoyed but it took too long even with a 4 man group and with a poor reward.
Currently there is almost no reason to have PvP/PvE servers because they are basically the same besides flagging. If you want to just raid and do instances have a ball or a huttball for that matter.
If your a PvP guild GTFO now before its too late. (unless you enjoy farming 3 instances and doing whatever lame illum PvP they add. (not in as of now)
I’m looking at planetisde 2 right now because the world PvP is a joke in this game (yes i know population is lower due to being in beta) but this game literary prevents world PvP or severely discourages it until about 30 and even then its a joke. Its not just me that thinks like this its the biggest topic in the PvP tester feedback forums.
This is my honest opinion and many also agree with it in testing (except the carebears of course they are rampant) I hope you kiddies have fun in your theme park this will not kill WoW either btw I almost want to play it again after this just so I can experience some more world PvP.
Also the sarlaac pit sucks. Maybe BW shouldn’t spend so much time on april fools jokes and actually do some Dev because I run into the mouth of the sarlaac and guess what?
Im not eaten im just sitting inside of it and eventually I get (fatiuged) even from going to one zone to another you can’t ride your speeder or you will get fatigued in many cases and start taking dmg. So you gotta hop on a taxi instead. (example: going to tatooine spaceport you cannot ride your personal speeder to the dune sea without getting fatigued only by taking a taxi) The world is so instanced and segmented I want to kill myself.
I’ll be laughing and saving 150 dollars and putting it toward an MMO gameplay style I actually support. Story and massive multiplayer games are a joke this could’ve been WAR in space but better. Instead, its a watered down version of WoW with a lot of cheesy story added in that still doesn’t mean anything and it feels like the quests are mostly just there to grind through to lvl up.
Anyway I’m not a TOR hater I just love world PvP and there isn’t enough of it for me to want to play at launch. Instancing ruins a MMO for me because it goes against the purpose of it being a massively multiplayer game. Who knows BW could implement some really cool stuff with illum but currently Lvling up from questing is a bore for this Xcore PvPer and I wouldn’t want to buy it at launch and farm it again just to get there.
Note: I’ve already given feeback in testing forums on how to fix these problems but I don’t want to re-post here if you catch my drift.
Just my two cents tell me what you think or what you want to know about world PvP because that’s all I care about. If you want to know more about the Class specifics and etc ask a PvE player who is interested in re-rollin tons of chars and questing not me. Balance didn’t seem too bad in it needs tweaking definitively but I didn’t notice any super OP stuff going down other then the AOE dmg abilities but that’s actually a lot of fun with a one minute CD and being strong across the class board.
