hmm it could be possible but its just an extension.

i've seen on the official forums a program that loads your characters from data saved on your hard drive and lets you see all characters and their inventory, plus stash. no virus, ive used it still got my characters.

ive also seen somewhere something similar to what is described on that PoE Helper site, ill try and find it, if i do I'll post back.

GitHub - https://github.com/ - is a site that hosts open source projects.

The site itself is perfectly fine. You do have to be wary of any projects hosted there that don't come with source though, as you would with any site.

You can download the source to the extension from that page and check it out yourself. This post: How do directly modify a Google Chrome Extension File? (.CRX) tells you how to verify the source of the extention you are thinking about using beforehand.

This extension is perfectly safe to use ; I've audited the whole code and found stricly nothing harmful in the crx file

or you could always look through the source and compile it yourself.
