    Packet sniffer/sender?

Has anyone made or been able to find a packet sender/sniffer that works in PoE? The few I've tried just freeze up the application. (god, I what I wouldn't do for a program like d2hackit)
Anyone at least point me in the right direction? I'm having a hard time finding much when it comes to hacking in PoE because the material I'm finding is either way over my head or it's people asking if every utility is a bot.

I imagine a game that's in it's infancy like this could have quite a few low hanging exploits that someone who plays around enough can do something with a simple packet sender. Honestly I'm somewhat surprised that there isn't people already playing with them more. Is there something I'm missing here?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but thus far GGG has pretty much no known cheat detection? I know they have mentioned that they are implementing something, but there have not been any known banning from any hacks correct?

I have, but it's not released (no plans for it either). I've made similar tools for other games, but I'm treating this game differently. They use a stream based protocol, so a MITM proxy isn't viable unless you reverse the entire packet protocol. There are some hackish ways to get around this for simple stuff, but for anything more, you're going to run into problems. I use the client to get access to parsed packets to work with.

For Open Beta, (0.10.0+), they added some standard encryption code to the protocol to prevent plain-text e-mail and hashed passwords from being sniffed. So if you don't work through the client, you need to work through that layer as well (say, a clientless).

This game was closed beta tested for a while now, so it's not that new in terms of the underlying packet system. There might have been some stuff early in CBT days, but I'd think they have most of the low hanging fruit covered by now. I've not really dived into it as of late because I'm working on other things, but it's always possible there's something to take advantage of.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but thus far GGG has pretty much no known cheat detection? I know they have mentioned that they are implementing something, but there have not been any known banning from any hacks correct?
Correct. I'd expect they have been spending most of their time implementing more robust server sided detection logic for RMT and the fixed path traversal botters currency farming.

RMT seems to be their biggest cheating-based problem right now.

And to your earlier point of you asking if you are missing anything, I've asked myself that same question for the past 6 months almost. This game is just one of those "under the radar" types of game that is too small and niche for most people to get into. Pretty much any of the big names that write commercial bots have passed up this game. I've been working on stuff pretty hardcore since the start of Open Beta, and almost ready to put it all together into a (paid) release.

I thought by now, someone else would have come along and beat me to it or have done similar, but most people seemed to have moved on from the game. If you look at the thread dates and total views across some of the more known cheating communities, you'll see just how small PoE is in terms of the cheating community. That, and the fact GGG hasn't really impeded anyone's ability to reverse the game and develop stuff, yet there's not much out there tool, cheat, and hack wise, there's just basically no interest in the game from that perspective (aside from die hard fans, such as myself).

I don't know, it's really discouraging because I think the game is really good, not perfect, but certainly deserves a lot more attention than it's getting. Oh well, I'm committed to finishing my project, even if things look as bleak as they do.

I guess the d2 hacking scene spoiled me, just remembering the days of .09 where you could get anything and everything you wanted.

I've seen your ecp (yet to play with it) you plan on evolving that into something more akin to d2hackit or redvex in the future? Or did I miss the mark here and that is essentially what you released?

Just please don't ruin it for everyone. I understand the curiosity, the power to "beat the system" or simply making some profit, but ruining the game for everyone is just a loss/loss situation in the long term, so please think about it.

but other than that, have fun GGG is great and listen to the community, just help them make a better game that makes you have fun without having to cheat
