What class to play & why?

I'm starting Age of Conan again soon, but I don't know which class to choose.

Last time I played, I chose an Assassin first, then a Ranger, then a Priest of Mitra. I enjoyed the PoM most and got to around level 20, but I don't know what to play this time. I was going to choose a Tempest of Set but I began to take a liking to other classes after watching some videos.

Any recommendations?
With reasons, please.

What type of play are you looking for?
Open PvP, Mini games, PvE, etc.

Undecided. I'm more of a PvE player though, but I'll be on a PvP server so I'll be doing a fair amount of PvP too.

I tried demonologist, and it's a very fun class. Main attack has a great splash if you spec for it, so it's great for taking down 2-3 mobs at a time. + you can instantly kill minions if you spec for explosion (or something like that) AND knockback all the other targets around that target.

Though, I'm rather new, I've got no idea if the above is any good, but the class is great fun. I'd recommend it.

I played a demonologist also and i find them to be quite enjoyable, i tried out 3 or 4 of the other classes to up to about 10. I constantly go back to him. Also something else to think about is melee or caster. The demonologist is very entertaining and fun to play with. They also seem pretty powerful and useful in alot of situations and are great towards endgame as i believe they get alot or some AoE.

I watched some videos of Demonologists.. They seemed to be rather powerful when they're not alone, but they seem to be extremely vulnerable to damage. I might give it a shot, though. No harm in trying.

yeah, i love my barbarian, its a great solo and group pvp class and i usually top damage meters on raids

Demo is not really vurnable to damage. They have insane amounts of crowd control resistances & a way (that will get nerfed) to be practically imum to all damage for 10 sec... 1 MINUTE cooldown... And the ability is instant cast.

Casters are very powerful, for now. In the long run, the classes will always get nerfed and buffed. Just try some random ones and choose which one is more fun. My main is a Dark Templar (which have always sucked), but he's fun as hell to play.

At the moment casters are all the rage, but it depends what you want to do at 80. If you want to pvp go necro/demo, if you want to pve at 80 then it doesnt really matter what you pick. Personally im a conqueror and ive had alot of other chars 60+ but so far conq is what im enjoying the most.
