[ Skyforge ] Game Mechanics For Beginners

    Gear

There are 3 categories for the beginner character that you need to worry about. After 3 1/2 hours of playing I haven't unlocked any of the other item slots, so we'll go from there as the other slots are probably explained to you at that point. They are:

    • Weapons
    • Rings
    • Upgrade Slots

Your weapons are pretty self explanatory. Swords, guns, shields and all those kind of fun things. The Rings are 4 slots to which you get basically stat-boost items. They do things like increase Bonus Damage, Crit Chance and the like. Check your character sheet to see what ones do what for your character by hovering over the stat and reading the tooltip.

The Upgrade slots are a little triangle metallic icon on the right of the slot. For example, if you want to upgrade the slot for your main hand weapon then there is one directly to the right of it that you would use basically 'scraps' from items you disassemble as you go. The main purpose of upgrading the slot, is to increase the bonus to the stats on a weapon, as they are applied to your character.

These go for all 3 slots.

    Skill Tree

    Updated:

As you go through the Paladin tree, keep going until you hit the 'class' symbol in the Ascension skill tree. When you hit that point, you will no longer gain normal class sparks to advance your class, but rely solely on the 'class sparks' which drop off of bosses mainly (really low chance off of mobs).

Farm Port Naori for lower prestiges to get class sparks (farm), so that you can max out your favorite class.

From there, you get to decide if you just want to play that class, or most likely, start to go towards another one. You can start spending the colored sparks you have been collecting to advance outside of the "paladin" tree for example. You find the class you want, say slayer... and then right click and 'find path' to give you a light blue dotted line that shows you the easiest path to take. Along the way you will get a symbol with the current stage you are on and the progress, of how many of that color spark you have/need to progress on that path to wherever you chose to go.

Prepare for grinding fun, and then continue the class farm when you get there in that other class

    Questing

Going to the main hub, and choosing "Premonition" seems like one of the easiest ways to solo gear/disassemble items and upgrade your gear to start. There are a lot of mobs, you can get rewards for doing the bonus objectives (example; dash 20 times during the mission). The rewards are usually the Ascension currencies. You can progress through the first few quests fairly simply, and there are group based quests as well.

The group finder is a really good way to go through it. The mobs will be tougher, but there will be 3+ people in your group. So it's not too difficult at the beginning. I can only assume when you gain more prestige, you can unlock the higher difficulties, and that they will become more difficult/enjoyable for higher levels.

To upgrade to the next difficulty, there is an arrow on the left of the JOIN button, where you can choose the next level. If you don't have the prestige yet (you can see it at the top left of your screen on that map), then you cannot select it.

    Attacking

Go through your skills and see what your abilities do. The first two columns are 'single clicks' and if there is a long arrow between two of the same icons, it is a charge ability. This is important. As you gain talents which give bonus' to your abilities, you should know which one is that particular ability. For example, I received a talent that increases the damage of one of my abilities by 115% when they have over 80% health. In order to use this, I have to left click once, then press right click once. If I start attacking, and try to do it while I am starting the combo system, then it will not go off until I hit the 4th tier and it resets the counter.

Understand what your abilities do. Look at them, try them on a mob in particular and practice it until you memorize which clicks do what abilities. Ingrain it into your muscle memory so you don't have to look at the two left/right mouse action icons to see what ability you can use... you will know it.

Your other actions 1-4 and such, don't increase combo points, so if you just want to engage a group of mobs it is a great way to start. Paladins have a kind of charge/knockdown on 1 that is perfect for this. Charge in, and hold right mouse button down to do a whirlwind slash and knockdown all enemies in the area.

    Pretty fun.

Anyway, that's all for now, time to head off to work. Ask any questions and I will try to answer or find the answer for you and get back to you.
