Pointer to damage done

I'm trying to the pointer to the damage I take but the problem is that the number changes so quickly that I cannot get another scan before I'm smacked again. Any guidance?

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried finding a really slowly attacking mob but no dice. Am I going about this the wrong way?

I thought all that information was server side anyway. The most you could accomplish is make your client look like it wasn't losing damage when it really was. I could be wrong.
