A few months ago, my Minecraft started lagging just a bit, but over a few weeks the lag just gradually got worse until the point when I couldn't even play the game with the shortest view length...
Any suggestions as to why? any solutions?

get rid of your texture packs. Those things are pointless in a java based game..
Minecraft is a java game. Check if you have the newest version of Java. If it is more than a few months old, ininstall it and then download the newest version.
i know, im just trying to say that instense graphics in a java based game can and will make the game under perform. Simple find a new texture pack or disable it. Minecraft will still run on VERY old versions of java.. That version of java not beng able to support the mods/texture packs he might be running though. So yes updating java when it says to is a wise idea. But if you are still gettting those issues, try running minecraft with out the mod loader.
But it seems like your issue was fixed, Good luck to ya
Defrag your PC - Update Java,
Clean up your disk Drive
Okay, so I found out what it really was, and it was kind of retarded. I will post what the reason was and how I fixed it, for the other people who might need help with this?
Also, I haven't fixed it 100%, so if you know of any way to do it, please send me a message, or post the answer below
Okay, so.. I got this computer about 8 months ago, and by the time it was running minecraft perfectly. About 2 months later I got myself a secondary HDMI screen for my computer, but wasn't playing minecraft at the time. When I tried to play minecraft again about 1 month later, it was extremely laggy. I was playing with 1-10 FPS. The computer that I have is ASUS - Notebooks- ASUS K93SV
My computer has two Graphics Cards and 1 of them is totally shit, so of course I run on the good one (The bad one is Intel HD Graphics 3000 - Notebookcheck.net Tech. And the good one is NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M - Notebookcheck.net Tech.) So of course I always use my Nvidia card for everything.
It turns out, when I open any games while I have my dual screen turned on, they automatically start running on the Intel graphics card. Apparently my computer assigns the Nvidia card to the secondary screen, because the Intel card is unable to. Also, when I turn off the Intel card while I have dual screen turned on, the screen on my laptop will get completely turned off.
I know of no way to make the Nvidia card run the laptop screen. I can't switch the 2 cards, and I can't assign the Nvidia card to the laptop screen when the Intel card is turned off.
So for now I have to un-plug my dual screen whenever I want to play minecraft. But nonetheless, I am running it perfectly again
As I said earlier, if you know of a way to solve this (make the Nvidia card run the laptop screen while I'm using dual-screen) then please post it below. Theories and ideas are very welcome, also!
(Also, sorry for giving some false information about my problem earlier(saying the lag started out slowly and then got worse over time). I simply remembered wrong.)

You can try a mod/plugin for minecraft, it's called Optifine HD.
I was having a lot of lagg aswell, this mod is reducing ur lagg and optimizing your FPS.
Also, a nice feature of Optifine, it will let u zoom in.

Yes. That is my situation now. according att Cutts explained that Google had difficulty sometimes in finding the source of a new piece of content. But over time, probably, day, week, month, Google can find the most relevant results for a query and therefore, over time, the results will change the ranking position of the web pages to better fit with reality.

Go to minecraft settings and choose a low profile, it will reduce lag quite a lot.
If not, you can use minecraft mods to make the game experience the smoothest

You can try the Optifine HD mod/plugin for Minecraft.
I was experiencing a lot of lag as well, but this tweak will lessen it and improve your frame rate.
Another useful feature of Optifine is the ability to zoom in.
