You can just switch chars while in combat so you don't need to do this. That is unless they changed it recently, haven't checked today but was working yesterday.

I'm not sure but i made the experience when i ALT+F4 i get more different servers, but this can be a misbelief.

With this said there are certain rich ores that seem to have constant spawn points on overflows regardless of patching (i don't have a list this is just something i noticed)
