    New to programming!

    Hello Everyone,

    My name is Justin AKA Verminus and I have been intrigued with and by programming for years and never EVER tried it as I was highly intimidated! What really pushed me into overdrive recently was the fact that my Uncle called me and talked about learning some programming himself and that really gave me some more umph. The I realized how powerful this language really was and how much you could do with it! I stumbled over and through forums left and right and was again overwhelmed by the amount of information and unreliable resources and began to slip away.

    Recently I started getting back into it and what showed me it is possible is the PoE hack that was made here. it is nothing major and is buggy but the fact of the matter is, it is coded and works! I stumbled across a link and I cannot exactly remember where I found it but this guy really helped me to see that baby steps and practice will get you to where you want to go, well that and ambition. The channel for him is C++ Tutorial (1) - Absolute n00b spoonfeed - YouTube and I would really like to know what experienced people here think of this tutorial. It does not go into everything but it did help me get started and now I am drooling wanting more and more!

    Anyway, I won't rant but over the last couple days have been really working C++. I am not doing anything huge right now, just small little Console Appplications and toying with them a bit. Any advice would be HIGHLY appreciated as I have nothing but time on my hands. Things got hectic in Afghanistan and now I sit on my rear trying to find a way to really entertain myself and not just by sitting on PoE.

    Again, thank those that read and thank you for the comments!

    Ok so I have done A LOT more digging and decided that I am really into C#. I am using Tabors videos which I found here on the site which are AWESOME. Only question I have is, are these videos good for someone who has NO prior knowledge in programming?

    So this is my first application, yes it is very simple but we all start somewhere and so far it seems very interesting!

    [spoiler]
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Text;

    namespace Day1
    {
    class Program
    {
    static void Main(string[] args)
    {
    Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");
    Console.ReadLine();
    }
    }
    }
