I had a couple of advanced mod ideas that I would appreciate feedback on.
One is the oft-requested feature of the Appearance Tab that would allow individual players to have a custom appearance.
What I'm thinking is this:
You run one copy of WoW. This is the normal version, no hacks. Nothing terribly warden unfriendly.
You have an add-on collecting pretty much all available data and streaming it to a clientside private server sandbox, hosted locally.
You have a second client connected to the private server sandbox. But along the way, you have a script filtering data, which allows you to remodel individual and specific NPCs.
Almost anybody can dualbox WoW, even on high settings. Normal reskinning/modeling requires bypassing Warden and even then retextures/models all instances of an item.
In theory, this way, you could choose to simply modify a single player's appearance or a single player's mount, etc. if you have an add-on which communicates the necessary changes between users of the add-on.
Summary: Unmodded WoW client runs, sends info to clientside private server. Clientside private server shares info with other players for visual mods and transmits modded data to a second (hacked) instance of the WoW client which isn't connected to the internet.
My second idea is considerably less ambitious but I'd appreciate feedback on it:
A full voiceover mod. It should be fairly simple, if you have people who record voiceover for every quest in the game, to give each quest an associated sound file, right? And then add a play button to play the audio for a selected quest and automatically play it when a quest dialogue appears?
