[Question/Request] Android Java Application

So guys, I'm on an IT School at the end of the first year. Next year our task will be to program something useful and shit.
Since we only learn shitty languages (C and VB.Net (Can't even be concidered beeing a language)).... OK Next year we are about to learn C++ but I already have a little knowledge with that... Whatever
In my Project I think its a nice Idea to program an App for Android (with Java) since I've got a HTC Desire cell.

That app should do one thing: Help you count cards in Black Jack games. (the idea came to me as we go to Las Vegas as a class trip )

Now the Problem is: I am not very skilled with Java and I have never used it to create GUIs. Also I never used the API's provided by google.

My Question is:
Can you guys help me to widen my knowledge about java and Android App creation?

First and foremost, C is the bane of many language's being. C++ is a superset to C, to which your argument has no damned standing ground. Now, I wouldn't make any problems about showing distaste towards VB.NET (it is an eye-gauging language, indeed), however you're completely making a ridicule of yourself by then talking about using Java. And this when (to superficial persons such as yourself) Java and VB.NET handle the same (logic-wise).

I don't get how you could look over the beautiful development guide for Android, which covers about everything you need (and need not) know.

I find this to be explaining all :-). Your school didn't teach you how to do cool stuff with VB.NET, such as creating a GUI to track an IP-address? That's a shame, really.

But C is useless for me since its mostly used for Hardware programming. And I wan't to program an application with a GUI for Android phones...
And this does only work with Java. I can't just use something else...

I beg to differ. C still has many uses outside of that.. Not that you'd comprehend .
