Below the Earth (and an Ocean Beneath)

While in some games like World of Warcraft or City of Heroes, falling beneath the world can mean certain death, a monotonous fall or simply being teleported back to where you started, Archeage seems to have a rather simple approach to this problem: an ocean lies beneath the world! Of course, getting below the world isn't easy. However, there are multiple ways to go about doing it and certain advantages to doing it.

In certain zones, like Dewstone Plains for instance, there are geometric holes in the terrain that will allow you to fall down to the world below. However, due to fall damage, this will kill you if you're not careful. To easily avoid this, you can use your glider to safely waft your way to the waters below. In this water you can drown just like any ocean except that you cannot summon a boat below the world (I am currently investigating a way on how to do this). If you happen to be carrying a tradepack and die in this way, there is no bottom of the ocean for you to swim to and you will surely lose it. If you manage to safely get below the world with a tradepack, you can re-surface by using the unstuck tool or by summon a boat close to the nearest shore and getting into said boat.

This is the hole in Dewstone Plains, up atop the mountains near SM.

Most often than not, you will not have the luxury of finding such holes; you will need to get creative if you desire to explore what lies below. To do this, plant a sort of tree that will allow you to climb it when it is matured on the side of a very steep incline. If you're lucky enough to not have someone steal it, you can climb said tree and rotate your way around it until your character passes through the terrain, release and fall into the world. I found said example in the mountains of Gweonid Forest.

As you can see, there are objects and buildings below the terrain that can be climbed and explored (as well as some underground terrain of sorts). It's always fun to see this sort of thing and wonder what else could be hiding below plain view. One advantage I've considered is the ability of planting multiple farms on terrain below the earth, as shown in the second picture above. It'd make a most excellent, hidden place to plant my innumerable amounts of cotton!

I hope this was interesting for you to read and I sincerely hope it comes of use to you, whether it be for fun or otherwise. Happy exploring!

It's the Silent Forest area by the ruins. I was there looking for tree farms. :3

I suppose it's most likely gotten a lot more difficult. I've seen a few number of trees sitting on such steep inclines they're virtually impossible to get access to.
