A way to make consistent gold and not rely on the market

Hey all,


Even though this is common knowledge this far into the expansion, there is always someone out there who is new to MoP and might be a bit lost with all of the new profession skills, mats, etc.. So if this guide helps someone, then that's good enough for me!


So, getting right to it.


What 2 professions we will need:
We will need max (600) Herbalism and Inscription. Luckily, both of these are easy to rank up.

What WoW Addon we will need
-Gathermate2. Pretty much a requirement if you want to do this with good efficiency.

-We will be using our Herbalism to... Wait for it.. Gather herbs! In MoP.
-These herbs will include Green Tea Leaves, Rain Poppy, Sha-Touched Herb, Snow Lily, Silkweed, and to a lesser (more rare) extend - Fool's Caps.
-We will also sometimes run into an herb called: Golden Lotus. This can either be found as an herb you can pick, or be included in other herb nodes. but more on that later.
-These common herbs, especially Green Tea Leaves, are densely scattered throughout the MoP zones; Some of the most densely populated zones for herbs are Jade Forest, Valley of the Four Winds, and Kun-Lai Summit.
-Once enough herbs are gathered (and by enough, I mean all 5 backpacks full of 20 stacks to make this most efficient, we will move on to our Inscription.

What we will do with Inscription:

-With the herbs you've collected, you will be Milling them (2ndary inherited skill that comes with Inscription)
-The outcome of us milling these herbs will be the following 2 ingredients:
-Shadow Pigment: Shadow Pigment - Item - World of Warcraft (Our main ingredient)
-Misty Pigment: Misty Pigment - Item - World of Warcraft (Our 2ndary ingredient, but also important)
-We will then use the Shadow Pigments to craft Ink of Dreams: Ink of Dreams - Item - World of Warcraft - Requires minimum 500 Inscription
-The Misty Pigments will be crafted into Starlight Ink: Starlight Ink - Item - World of Warcraft - Requires minimum 500 Inscription
-With at least 540 Inscription, we will then learn and craft the following inscription:
-Crane Wing Inscription: Crane Wing Inscription - Item - World of Warcraft (3x Ink of Dreams, 1x Light Parchment)
-These vendor for 18.75gp each, and stack into a pile of 20.

When it's all milled, ink'd, and turned into Crane Wing Inscriptions, If you started the process with 5 bags full of herbs, the outcome should be right around 12 stacks (of 20) of these Crane Wing Inscriptions, which yields about: 4.4k gold.

What to do next:
Although your primary money maker will be the Ink of Dreams, you will have left over Starlight Ink, and after a while, you'll have lots of it.
The following 2 things should be done with them:
-Sell them in bulk (Average price for them across all servers are around 600/stack)
-You will make Darkmoon cards (Darkmoon Card of Mists - Spell - World of Warcraft) 1 week before and During the Darkmoon Faire. You will not complete sets, but sell individual cards separately. There are many of them that sell for well, and although this guide
-As far as DMF cards go, it is RNG based, but there are many good cards that sell for a lot of gold, especially right before or during the DMF. - For example, pretty much any tiger or crane card will sell, on average, 1500+ gp during the DMF.
-And last, but definitely not least, we will be selling our Golden Lotus. This little guy goes for a pretty penny. The average price for this across all US servers is 60g/each. People are *Always* looking for this as well, so even though we are relying very little on the market, this cannot be passed up.


Please keep in mind that this method does not rely on the Market and is a 100% self-sustainable way of making pure profit. But there are other ways of doing this.

Some of these methods are:
-Finding bulk sellers for herbs. The lower the better obviously, but if you want to make any profit, you need to be buying herbs @ 30g/stack and turning them into the same inscription enchant I wrote about above.
-If your particular server has a good market for Greater Crane Wing/Tiger Claw/Tiger Fang/Ox Horn (Catarina Stanford - NPC - World of Warcraft) The by all means, convert your Starlight Ink into these.


All in all, after the initial (small) investment in getting Inscription up, you will see nothing but full profit and 0 expense from this method. If you have a few hours a day to herb, you will make an additional 30k gold a week.

I found selling inks or just the herbs a better income than making inscriptions selling for 18g. This was posted on ownedcore when mop came out btw.

don't go above 30g/stack like she said and you make a nice profit
