How can ppl have their servers online 24/7?

Hello, I have had a thought in my head for some time.
How can people have their servers online so long, without any breaks. There are a lot of servers that have their servers online almost 24/7.
I mean they must shut down their computers while they're sleeping or something. And when you shut down your computer you have to close the logonserver/world.exe...

So how is this possible? :O

A: There are things called 'dedicated' servers, which is litrally, it doesn't have a moniter or any software (much) etc, maybe just Linux or Windows, and the only thing it is used for is hosting.

B: If you put your computer in sleep mode you can configure it to not shutdown the files need to host it.

    Those are the main ways.

My comp doesnt break, I havnt shut it off for longer then 10 minutes in the last year.

Just shutdowns for More Ram, New hard drive ect, Updates.

Turning a computer Off and on kills it and uses more energy then in a 24/h cycle of time.

So.. just keep it on, Or pay 100$ for a dedicated/VPS server.

Its cheaper to host off your own comp untill you get donations, But you cant pocket those donations, MUST go for server, OR blizzard can sue you for lots of money.

Back to the subject, This is how they keep it on 24/7, Just leave it on. Keeping a server on 24/7 is only like an extra... 10-30$ monthly on electric billzzz
