Technically, no. Saying "**** that guy" isn't that bad.
However, as a professional, it is. Do you really expect to see a game director from a HUGE gaming company to act as unprofessional as he did?

Where did he say this...oh on a friends facebook page. This wasn't on a Blizzard page or Diablo page but friends and fellow co-workers page. Should be no need to put any apology up, people should just learn to not care what people put on their own personal pages.

He did so off clock hours and on facebook away from anything related to blizzard. How does that link in with the company? Is he NEVER allowed to express his opinion? Grow a pair and stop acting butthurt as if that comment affected you in any way. Bunch of pansies.

Not with his position in the company, he's not some average Joe. He needs to present himself in a suitable manner. Do you think he wanted to apologize? No the upper powers forced him to.

Looks like a dick, acts like a dick, deserves to be treated like a dick. People like that don't deserve to be a success... He needs to learn some humility

Dave said nothing wrong or against Jay's team. Jay acted like a baby after screwing up the franchise royally. If it wasn't for Dave, Jay wouldn't be doing what he is with diablo right now. So for Jay (as a public figure for blizzard) to act like a child in any public forum is a bad move. The apology (whether or not it's real) is a good move to cover his butt.

Forgiveness shouldn't factor in. He's just making a strategic move to cover his poor decision.

I should have worded that to "What are your thoughts on the apology". I personally don't think the apology was necessary either as it wasn't meant to be public, but leaks do happen.

People in the professional world are expected to act professional 24hrs a day, 7 days a week where ever they are. 2 real world examples:

One person I know (a college instructor) described a past experience when she was a Dean at another college. She and some of her colleagues and friends threw a bachelorette party and she ended up getting drunk. One of her friends put on her a plastic penis necklace and took a picture of her drinking and wearing the necklace and posted it on Facebook. Once she sobered up in the morning and noticed the picture, she quickly deleted it because she knew if her boss saw it, she would have gotten in a lot of trouble (for being unprofessional) with a good chance of being fired.

Another story: I once dated a hotel manager who rarely ever went out and partied in fear of being seen by a co-worker or boss. She also stated that if she acted un-professional off duty, she would have been fired.

Fact is, once you grow older and get jobs, you'll realize that a lot of companies have policies about remaining professional off duty because your actions reflect the company. I currently work at a Help Desk, and it states in my employee handbook that employees are to remain professional on and off duty because employee actions reflect that of the company. Any unprofessional behavior will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Welcome to the Real World, kids.
