    Goldskin proc rate?

I can't find any information on it and figure by now someone here must have tested it. The theory was that using LoH + defense gear and a low dps white weapon with + 20as and just constantly attacking a boss (probably ghom) would cause piles of to constantly drop. The chances that this would actually happen seem low but I'd be interested in hearing if anyone's tried it out yet? I really wanna try it but can't justify spending 6mil on the chest if the proc rate totally blows.

Edit* Just bit the bullet and bought one, I'll test it out in a bit then post the results.

-Using a WW barb, gathering packs of 30+ mobs in nightmare/hell/inferno (fields of strife). Also tested single target Frenzy spam with +attack speed gear (1.9 aps w/o frenzy).

    Results:

-There appears to be an internal cooldown around 7-10 seconds.
-Gold dropped seemed to be the same in nightmare, hell and inferno.
-Gold find gear doesn't seem to affect the amount of gold dropped (tried 142 gf then 280, same result)
-Amount dropped per proc varies widely, least being around 30 gold, up to about 500.
-It seemed like I was getting around 1k gold per minute average, perhaps a bit less.

Conclusion: Great addition for any gold find profile but no way to make a sizable amount of gold based solely off the proc.

Excellent information. Assuming one has a full set of gold find gear already they'll need to swap out ~3-4 pieces to get the difference with the 100% gold find.
Now assuming you have a sizeable gold pickup radius you can probably sell the existing gear and offset the cost of purchasing goldskin.

However, assuming you don't do any of that, and just straight up buy goldskin, according to your results: (And others have said the internal cooldown is 10 seconds)

Going with 10 seconds internal cooldown, assuming 100% uptime (hitting a mob every 10 seconds - so absolutely best case scenario):

Minimum GPH increase: (50 per kill):
    Formula: (minimumGoldDropped * 6) * 60
    18,000.

Maximum GPH increase: (500 per kill):
    Formula: (maximumGoldDropped * 6) * 60
    180,000.

With 100% uptime, you can have an increase in 18,000-180,000 GPH.

More realistically you'll have less than 100% uptime, so a few example values would be:
    • 25%: 4,5000 - 45,000
    • 50%: 9,000 - 90.000
    • 75% 13,500 - 135,000.

(Formula is just minimumGPH * upTimePercent and maximumGPH * upTimePercent)

Now assuming you don't offset against the cost of purchasing Goldskin and just purchase it and equip it and keep your old gf gear,
    when will you break even?

A few example values: Time is in hours.
Purchase Price Uptime Maximum Time Minimum Time
    1,000,000 100 55.555~ 5.555~
    5,000,000 50 555.555~ 55.555~
    8,000,000 66 673.401~ 67.3401~

    Formulas:
Max Time: Purchase Price / (minimum value/hour)
Min Time: Purchase Price / (maximum value/hour)

Realistically, unless you're turning over multiple bot accounts instead of botting occasionally on your main, (in which case you would be botting under 12 hours a day to be safe) you can then take the Maximum and Minimum Time's and divide them by your botting hour count.

Assuming you use the 5,000,000 purchase price with 50% uptime:
Botting Hour Count/Day Maximum Days Minimum Days
    8 69.44 6.94375
    24 23.148 2.31

Again, as a note, you can drive-down the purchase price of your goldskin by selling your existing pieces (to continue to hold the 300% gold find cap) which will realistically lower the Purchase Price, which would lower the time to break even.
