I read an interview with one of the dudes on D3, and he said that the dull, gothic, gray feeling isn't too good. They have that in the game, just not in the screenshots. They try to give every environment a completely different taste. Say you wal around for 15 minutes it'll be raining, then for 20 minutes you're in an oasis, and in another 10 you're in a dungeon. These keep people entertained, and personally I like the colors, because D1/D2/D2LOD weren't really THAT dark. Act 1 was grey and green, rainy. Act 2 was tan and sunny. Act 3 was full of trees. Act4 was reddish and demonic. Act 5 was white and blue. They're all different, people, like others said, are just over exaggerating, as long as the gameplay is nice who really cares, the scenery looks great in either the darkness or the light.
