Two rifts for one

Not sure if this has been posted before but here goes.

When you complete a rift and talk to Orek, he will close the rift in 30 seconds, before you're able to open another one.

However when the timer reaches 0 the name of the rift changes from it's current rift name (eg. Advocates...) to "Nephalem Rift". If you click the portal at that moment it will open a new rift where you can kill enemies and the rift guardian.

Doing this won't give you the the quest nor the completion bar, but everything else works.

So essentially you get two rifts for 5 fragments. But seeing as many fragments we get it's probably nothing big, just thougth I'd mention it.

Its a very good find, dont get me wrong. But like the other post said, you get far beyond enough shards by doing bounties for a bit. Though 2:1 by all means is a better ratio :3

It does indeed work if you do it at the right time... but know this, you MUST reset the game after you do the free rift. if you open the rift after you did the free one, you will zone into the one you just cleared

So I was trying this out and got into the extra rift and killed maybe 100-150 mobs and left cause it was pointless. I didn't restart though and after getting back to town I started a new rift. To my surprise it was the same rift I was just in but since I had not cleared it I was 90% done with the quest and was able to complete the rift in just a couple minutes. Not really useful but I found it quite interesting.

Yes, it's possible. The timer start with the quest and end with it, just don't make appear the boss because you can't end the quest otherwise.

How exactly does that work? You just rush through the rift levels without killing anything to prevent the boss from spawning and then you use the return-stone at the end?

No, just take your time and try to kill as much you think you can before you leave it. The achivement is started when you open the rift the normal way (getting the quest) and hopefully you will be at 80-90% on the completion bar, then just rush as hardcore as possible to get the rift guardian.

How much time you spend in the exploited instance doesn't matter afaik.
