save ~100m if biding on 2bil items without buyout option.

If you intend to bid 2bil on an item without buyout option to make sure to get it, you can save ~100m by only biding 1 904 761 906 gold instead of 2b. The next possible bid step would be 2 000 000 001, this means noone can overbid you and you'll save nearly 100m gold.

save ~100m if biding on 2bil items without buyout option.

Thats hilarious.. have you tried bidding on an item at like 1,999,999,999 after someone did this.. like manually retype your bid?

Doesn't help on lower bids. This uses the max possible bid on bnet of 2b and the +5% minimum on next possible bid.
    Calculation is 2,000,000,001/1.05

Um, Blizzard returns any gold you bid over the buyout cost.

    ex:

    item is 15g

    you bid 35

during its time, it gets bid up to 20

when you win, you get the item, and 15g back.

you can safely bid 2beez on an item and get your gold back your 100m when the acution ends. unless im completely misunderstanding.

    A little bit misunderstanding.

There is an item on the auction house for 100 gold with no buyout option.

    Scenario A:
You bid on it with 2 billion.
Everyone else shows the item is still for sale for 100 gold.
Now I bid on it 2 billion as well.
The auction house informs me I did not bid enough I get my 2 billion back - the item shows up as 2 billion and noone can bit on it anymore - You will pay 2 billion for it and win it.

    Scenario B:
You bid on it with 1.9 billion.
Everyone else shows the item is still for sale for 100 gold.
Now I bid on it 2 billion.
The auction house informs me I did not bid enough I get my 2 billion back - the item shows up as 1.9 billion and noone can bid on it anymore - You will pay 1.9 billion for it and win it.

    This is almost useless.

    1. Say an item has not been bid on yet, and that item is 50,000 to start.
    2. If you put in 1 904 761 906, it would only bid 50,000.
    3. So yes someone else could come along and still put in 2 bill bid and over do your 1 904 761 906.

so you claim i can't manually enter 1,950,000,000 as a MANUAL bid amount and outbid you?

im not sure if this is a joke or a stupid troll
