It means that you can get like a blue amulet that only has 39% Magic find and give it to your follower.

Like a seeking amulet has only Magic Find as the stat. Anywhere from 1-40%

The MF on your own character caps at 300%, This includes gear and Paragon +MF
Your NV Stacks and/or Shrine (25%) will give you no more than additional 75% ... This could be 5 NV Stacks, or it could be 4 stacks + Shrine, it will only give you 75% extra

Of course, this puts you at 375%

However, currently the follower is NOT included in this cap, it should be but it isn't. You can gear up your follower with a max of 141% MF (45% Sun Keeper, 20% Shield, 18% Ring1, 18% Ring2, 40% Amulet) Since you only get 20% of that you cap out at 28.2% MF (The game rounds to the nearest full point).

So... 300% + 75% + 28% = 403% total max.

BUT... I expect the follower to be included in this cap as of 1.0.5 and their other changes, so we'll see how that goes. Hope this explanation helps. .

how do you know that follower mf gives more real mf ? and not just only on the char screen, wouldnt be blizzards first game where an attribute is exceeded but doesnt give that much as real value

a good test would be, if someone has uber mf gear , so he would have over 300 without any follower.. and if he stops at 300, but would have like 310, it means follower brings more.

No one knows, and the RNG is too random to say for sure. I see more items when I run with +300 but that doesn't mean anything necessarily.

I have "uber" 300 mf gear and some mf on follower.


But still it doesn't mean that "extra" 13% is working properly.

If we assume that gf works the same as mf regarding follower going over cap then I can somewhat confirm that it does. I have done tests on my gold farming run by running with and without follower. I set it up in such a way that my follower does very little dps and gives me 0 buffs. After a 8 2 hour runs I have estimated that my gph dropped by around 40k without follower. I'm sure you can make more accurate tests with longer runs and more variables but I am only sharing what I have found from my own testing. Again the basis for this is assuming both mf and gf of follower work in the same manner regarding going over cap. my gf without follower is 300 and my follower adds 18%.

40k per hour? is this some kind of joke? my repairs are more than 100k per hour. Dude you cant give us numbers like 40k per hour and take that seriously, RNG gold drops can kill that number in 2-3 packs of white mobs

The purpose of my test was to determine if that number you see on your stats screen is just a visual bug or if it really does go past 300%. Again this is ASSUMING THAT GF AND MF PERCENTAGES WORK IN THE SAME MANNER REGARDING OBSERVING THE 300% CAP. With follower I was doing 520k gph farming core+fos on hell, and without follower I was doing roughly 480k gph THUS THE 40K PER HOUR. So for my test the follower bonus does indeed go past the cap.
I farmed long enough for my gph to stabilize such that my gph only changes by about 1-2k gold every 30mins.

as i said RNG. 40k is so low number you cant expect to make any conclusions. RNG can give you + or - of hundreds of thousands of gold per hour so talking about 40k gold is useless

How did you stabilized your gold per hour. You could kill 1000 mobs and get only 1 gold for each kill making 1000 gold total. Or you could kill 1000 mobs and drop 4000 gold each kill making 4000000 gold. And both scenarios can happen cause of the RNG. So talking about 40k ...
