I think I got scammed what should I do?

Hey guys. I sold 5.5mil to this guy for 3.5mil (80AUD) and 2mil (45AUD) to the same guy on skype and I got all the screenshots of the chats and in game trades.
He paid me on Paypal and wrote on his note saying that "he will not chargeback as he is paying for a virtual item that has been received already".
However, today I checked my paypal and he did charge back all the amounts of 125 AUD saying that it was an unauthorised payment.
Has anyone gone through a case like this before? Please give me some advise. The paypal does say that it can be covered if I provide them all the evidence.
Is screenshots of D3 trade and skype chat enough for this?

He used a stolen paypal, nothing you can do.. One of the risks of selling to unverified members. Accept your losses and learn from it.

Yes.. report his battle.net for buying gold when the OP of this thread sold the gold, makes sense.


Sorry OP I don't mean to be harsh, but paypal won't do anything for the seller(you) when the buyer(person you sold gold to) stole a paypal and used money from some other random persons account(person who filed unauthorized charge)..

Chalk this one up as a loss.

Now that you say that.. You can report him for claiming an unauthorized charge although it was actually him.. Usually people aren't dumb enough to do these claims with actual money over $100 because it is illegal. You automatically assume that it's a stolen paypal they can't be that dumb.

Report it to paypal ask them to match up the IPs.

I would file a report for Paypal. The likelihood of getting the money is slim since you had him put "virtual goods" and it probably was sent as a gift and paypal discourages sending gifts as payment. They normally will not cover virtual goods but if the investigation comes back and shows he/she was the person who bought the goods and it wasn't a stolen account, you have a small percentage of getting it back. You have to bother Paypal though, call them, email them everything. It's smarter to have the buyer not write anything in the notes section.

That sucks but anyway. First of all I don't think you will get your money back. Because Digital Items are not covered under Paypal. Second always accept money as GIFT only for your safety so they cannot chargeback.

I was recently scammed for $200+ through an "unauthorized" chargeback. Call paypal and they will expedite the investigation of the persons account to see if their paypal was actually hacked or not. If they can prove that it was not hacked you will get to keep your money, if it was hacked your money is gone. Gift option does not save you from this mess and neither does the "virtual goods" statement.

Once/if paypal has verified that they are fraudulently saying their account was hacked they ban the account, release the hold on your money and they report them to the local authorities.

Source: I am an experienced paypal user and I recently contacted paypal for a very similar case just yesterday.

Next time if you want a safer transaction sell to someone that has many positive reviews (from people with more than just 1 forum post) such as myself
