10 exciting games coming in 2016
It is officially 2016 and with a new year comes a ton of new games. Some we all are waiting for and some are so far under the radar we totally forgot they were even coming out. This article will serve as your refresher course for games coming out in 2016! I present to you 10 exciting games coming in 2016.
DOOM 4
It is hard not to get a nostalgia trip just thinking about a new DOOM coming out. The gameplay they showed at E3 2015 was probably one of the most hyped things at the whole event. DOOM 4 will have a no stopping, no cover, no health regeneration campaign mode. You are going to basically use iconic guns and grenades to take out the all of the weapon equipped demons.
Let's not forget DOOM 4 will be fully equipped with a multiplayer mode and recent leaked footage from closed alpha reveals a deathmatch mode. From all the pictures and videos I have seen this game seems to look like a gory Halo but way more fast paced. "Dominate your opponents in DOOM's signature, fast-paced arena-style combat." - Bethesda. The maps have a lot of levels with limited cover so things like vertical movement are probably going to be very common.
Whats coming that's going to bring something new? DOOM SnapMap. It seems that the developers realized that the franchise was supported by a massive community of fans with countless mods and custom levels being created over the years extending the games lifetime. With this realization they added DOOM SnapMap which will allow users to make and share their own levels and game modes. From what we can see it looks super easy to use but also holds a ton of customization options.

So when is DOOM 4 coming out? There is no set date but everywhere I look points to the first half of 2016 so here is to hoping!
We are coming up on a year since the PS4 exclusive Bloodborne was released and with that a new Dark Souls is coming to our platforms. Dark Souls 3 will feature a new system called weapon arts which allows battle arts to open up a new set of special moves for each weapon. Let me explain. In a lot of games when you are holding a two handed weapon L1 would block and L2 would also block. With this new weapon art system it allows L2 to have a completely new and different function which is basically replacing an otherwise useless button. Now with this new move it also opens up new combos with your other buttons. So while in your new L2 form your R1 and R2 abilities do different stuff than they normally do when not in that new form or stance opening up a ton of new abilities to your character. Basically what I am getting at is if you like your Dark Souls series for its difficulty and complexityl you are going to love this new feature.
Dark Souls 3 will also be a "turning point" in the series according to Hidetaka Myazaki, president of From Software. From what I have seen this seems to imply that they are gonna wrap up a lot of the story line but also create a new one and use this game as a sort of midpoint in the series.

When can we expect to get our hands on Dark Souls 3? Worldwide release is April 12, 2016
This was only announced in the middle of December so there is not much to go on other than we know that Telltale makes some really cool interactive storytelling games. Ever since their Walking Dead series, that I believe is still going on, they have been making a ton of cool games such as Game of Thrones. Hopefully this is more optimized than the last Batman game :P
When is this game coming out? All we know is 2016.
This game is a long time coming being that it has been in development since 2006. But as of two days ago we know that a release date is coming in March. "We'll show the real XV during the release date announcement in March." - Hajime Tabata. Word through the grapevine is that there is gonna be a lot of influence from The Last of Us in FF XV which is a bold statement to make.
Some things to know about FF XV:
- You can rent Chocobos like some past Final Fantasy games
- This game is 9 years old.
- No magical characters. Meters will be used for special moves that are more "realistic"
- The Director of FF XV stated that the main villain of this game will be the strongest in Final Fantasy history.
- This game will focus on the journey and choices rather than the means to get there.

So when is this game coming out? 2016 but an exact date should be found out in March.
Dishonored 2
I'll be the first to admit I never got around to playing Dishonored 1 despite it sitting in my Steam library for over a year but the Dishonored 2 trailer definitely convinced me to go back and give it a shot. Besides Hitman, Dishonored 2 is the only other main stream stealth game coming out in 2016 and it is on a lot of peoples most anticipated games list. What does Dishonored 2 have to offer us?
For starters you are going to play as Emily, the Emperor's Daughter, this time around. This acrobatic female protaginist looks really fun to play. But what wasn't clear from the trailer is you are also going to be able to play as Corvo. So the mantle isn't fully passed on to Emily. Both of these characters will play differently and have their own specific powers. Emily seems to have a super natural grappling hook type move and, like Corvo, seems to know how to use a sword. Also the missions, even though the same ones, will play differently on each character. So Emily might be going to the destination through social stealth while Corvo is going through the sewers or something. And before you ask, no this game will not have co-op even though there is two characters this time.
This game will set in a new city that seems a bit more bright with signs of trees, an ocean, and a lot of parasite looking things all around the town. I'm getting the vibe of a another plague coming. Also this is set 15 years after Dishonored 1 so the technology has advanced (a little too much for 15 years if you ask me).

E3 2015 Announcement Trailer
This PS4 exclusive will be the last installment in the series. Uncharted 4 is probably the most hyped PS4 exclusive of 2016 and for good reason, have you seen that multiplayer reveal trailer?! (Click here too see it) Like the other games in this series Uncharted 4 will focus on story telling, non linear environments, and seamless cutscenes. We can expect this game to have the same classic platforming and cover shooting gameplay, along with a few new additions, such as multiple dialogue options.

E3 2014 Trailer
Finally a new installment to the classic fighting game Street Fighter, as if the fighting e-sport scene wasn't hyped enough. (Fighting e-sports in a nutshell)
Some things to know about Street Fighter 5:
- Parrying is back...for RYU only.
- Nash is now an in your face kind of character
- Bison's iconic psycho crusher special is gone
- Back Dashes are no longer hit invulnerable
- Target combos are more prevalent
- The launch of Street Fighter 5 will include 16 characters. Here is a list of them all.

E3 2015 Trailer
Honestly I don't know how I feel about No Man's Sky. Some people are saying it is going to be the biggest game of all time and others are saying it is just a flop waiting to happen. Nevertheless it is a game that has a lot of people interested in it. So what is No Man's Sky?
Basically you have a character who makes a ship on a planet at the edge of the universe by collecting resources. With this fully customizable ship you are able to go out and explore the world where each planet is promised to be different than the others. No big deal right? Wrong. No Man's Sky is set to have, and I quote, "18,446,744,073,709,551,616" planets. Some websites have done the math and came up with a time frame of 5 billion years before you visit every single planet in this game. Here is where the skepticism comes into play. How can that many planets be fully custom and unique on just a video game? We'll for now we have to give them the benefit of the doubt.
No Man's Sky will have interesting combat since the creatures that you fight will also be different on each planet as well. One thing to keep in mind as well is that this game is not an MMO and the developers have made that clear. They compared it to Dark Souls where sometimes randomly you might see another human being but that is about it. They also mentioned it might have a Dark Souls type messaging system where you can leave things around for other players to find.
Some other things to note about this ambitious game:
- You have a space suit that has a multi tool to attack creatures, collect resources, and many more things
- One goal in the game is to get information on the planets life forms and features and upload it to the Atlas in which you are paid in Units, the in game currency.
- The closer you get to the center of the galaxy the more exotic the planets get.
- The game is playable offline.

When The Stick of Truth came out Matt Stone and Trey Parker said they would never do another video game again. But I guess after seeing its success and also mentioning "we felt like we learned how to fully make video games after we finished The Stick of Truth" they decided to go at it again. This new game is promised to have a better combat system and another unique storyline that will serve as a sequel to The Stick of Truth.

Okay I know this is a mobile game but it definitely deserves the hype around it. Augmented reality + Capturing Pokémon = Amazing, hopefully.
Here is what you need to know about Pokémon Go:
- You capture Pokémon by using augmented reality.
- Battling and trading will be in Pokémon GO.
- There will be boss battles set at certain locations where players can join in and fight with you.
- There will be micro transactions for items such as different types of Poké Balls.
- The levels of the Pokémon will vary possibly depending on where you come into contact with them.
- You can customize the look of your trainer.
- Pokémon GO Plus comes with a wrist band that comes with blue tooth that links up to your phone and when a Pokémon is near by the wristband vibrates and blinks
