    Re: textures with transparency

Exactly what do you mean by editing textures with transparency? You want it not to be transparent or?

    Re: textures with transparency

sorry, i shoulda been more specific. what i mean is taking an existing texture and adding transparency to only certain areas of it. i erased the backround in all the areas that i wanted to be transparent. worked fine as far as loading it into the modelviewer but no good loading it in WoW.

    Re: textures with transparency

The model needs to know that its texture is transparent. And most of them don't. Thats the problem.

    Re: textures with transparency

Might be a stupid question but is there anyway to let it know that it's transparent?

    Re: textures with transparency

NO definately not. There are no transparent textures in WoW, so no!

Kidding. Of course you can. Would there be such things otherwise? And what already is there is possible to reproduce.
Its defined in the renderflags. There again comes Cryects M2Modder or your favourite hex editor.

With the M2Modder its prettxy easy. You navigate through it until you find the renderflags and modify them to 1 or 2. Dunno which one exactely (1 - Alpha testing only, - Alpha blending, so most likely 2.)

The hex way of life: At 0x088: ofsRenderFlags. So go to [0x088] and see nRenderFlags (0x084) uint16, uint16 pairs. THe second one is the blending mode. Again you need to set it to 2.

    Have fun and good luck.
