Model editing work without programs?

can any one tell me if editing some how works with out using programs at all while wow is running? If so can you tell me how?

Texture, creature and other swaps work fine with out the model edit fix. It has nothing to do with size.

Thx and does any one know any good progams for editing textures cause ive seen some good color changes and ive been looking for places that have texture edits and i found one but i forgot to bookmark it and the thread was deleted so i cant find it.

weapon swaps still work right?

Edit:all of the MPQ's i tried to swap textures that doesnt work...it just wont let me have any other MPQ but the 3 main ones in the folder to start wow...
