Have you ever seen items being sold in the Auction House under a
familiar character name? It's not just a coincidence. Utilize a
well known designer brand name with the right profession and you
can make massive profits in game for items that would otherwise not
be worth all that much.

Becoming One of the Elite Designers

What do I mean when I say to use a well known designer name?
Basically, you will name your character after a well known real
world designer such as Gucci or Versace. The key here is to make
sure that you first of all choose a highly sought after designer
with a lot of name recognition, and second that you spell the name
right and market yourself properly.

By doing this, you can guarantee a couple of things. First, you
will have locked up a very valuable character name in the game. You
might have a bit of trouble finding a server with a popular name
like Versace available, but when you do, you can guarantee that it
is worth your time to work with. Second, you will have locked
yourself into a profession that coincides with the specific name
you chose. For example, it would be a waste to sell mining ore if
your character name was Versace. However, if you sold tailored
bags, you could start to make a nice profit.

Markup is Everything

The key to making a profit now is to sell your tailored or crafted
items for significantly more gold based solely on the name you have
selected. People are highly interested in having name brand
merchandise, both in real life and in World of Warcraft. You can
often make as much as four or five times more gold from selling a
bag with a name like Versace on it than you could from just a
regular bag.

You have to be able to get the word out though. Simply posting a 16
slot Versace bag in the Auction House for 50 gold is not going to
necessarily make you ri.ch - not everyone actually cares about the
name. However, if you announce in the trade channel of a major city
like Ironforge or the Undercity during peak hours on the weekend,
you can almost guarantee that at least one person will be
interested enough to buy that Versace bag, and because you are not
selling anything more substantial than a normally crafted item with
your specially chosen name on it, you can do this over and over
again for massive profits.

Heh, saw a guy on my server called "armani" selling tailored wares. He did sell more than most tailors, in fact I bought some bling for my bank alt from him even though I had a maxed out tailor. All in all, I think it's a great idea for selling, but I really wouldn't want to play a toon with that name.

It's not a specific auction house tip? It's just the whole concept.
On the auction house people won't see the name of the person
who made the item. So it's a mix of auction house and the trade
channel.

I've made thousands of gold in the past years by selling overpriced
items with <Made By Versace>

i dont think it will make a big difference tbh, i think just some people finding it funny would pruchase but still... the people who need a piece of gear would buy it from anyone selling it. Price is what matters, not crafter. Atleast thats my own opinion.

Nobody and yes I saw nobody will pay 40-50 % more becouse it has "Made my Versache" line in the bottom... Nobody looks at that.
And no I am nor a poor guy IRL or in WOW I have 24k gold and I wouldn't buy a Netherweave bag just becouse it has a green pixel line Made by Versache...
