Here I will try to maintain a list of what and where you can find the best starter plate tanking gear in Northrend.

In this "guide" I pressume that you are after some starter tank gear which will be enough for running lvl 80 dungeons.
Every item listed is 100% certain to get since it does not have a chance to drop, it is all from quests and crafting.

Complete the quest Reading the Meters from Archmage Berinand @ 33.0 34.3 in Borean Tundra.

Take follow up Postponing the Inevitable and head into The Nexus in Borean Tundra. For this quest to work, you have to stand at the edge of the platform that Anomalus is on and use the quest item.

Complete the quest Secrets of the Ancients from Archmage Berinand @ 33.0 34.3 in Borean Tundra.

Take follow up Quickening and head into The Nexus. Kill the giant protectors (big walking trees) before the boss to the right, they drop about 2x of the 5 quest items each.

Take the quest Disarmament from Defender Mordun @ 59.5 48.9 in Howling Fjord. Head into Utgarde Keep and loot five weapons from the weapon racks along the instance. You might aswell pickup the quest Into Utgarde! for a nice little ring with stamina, crit and attack power.

Take the quest Seeds of the Blacksouled Keepers from Lurielle @ 61.5 22.8 in Howling Fjord. Kill the spores to the west and use the quest item when they are dead to freeze eight of them.

Take the quest Ned, Lord of Rhinos... from Killinger the Den Watcher @ 57.0 44.3 in Borean Tundra. Found roaming around 47, 44 in the herd of rhinos. Nedar is riding Lunchbox, who is a lvl 71 normal mob. Once Lunchbox is killed, Nedar will dismount and shoot with his bow. He doesn't seem to have any special attacks and is easy to solo.

Take the quest A Diplomatic Mission from Counselor Talbot @ 56.7 72.6 in Borean Tundra. Talk to Karuk @ 47.2 75.5. Take the quest Karuk's Oath and kill Skaldir @ 46 75. Turn it in and accept Gamel the Cruel. Kill Gamel @ 46 78.

Lol cobalt gear is green, you cant do squat with that also Kaluak honored chest is nice and just get a BS to make you the blue defense gear instead of cobalt... i agree fail is everywhere.

It is for starters - which means it's easily aquireable at level 69 and will hold for tanking level 80 dungeons.
