Making money with non combat pets

Common sense? should be...
If I judge on the amount of stupid people where I get money from I would doubt that common sense part though.

First of all: what are non combat pets
When I spam my macro to sell pets i get like 10 whispers every day from people asking "what do you mean with pets" or "I want the raptor mount" or "do these pets do good dps? I have a turtle at the moment! Is it better?"
If you don't know this, go play something else please. Non combat pets
are little critters that you can keep at your side as a companion. They are fun to have, some are really nice to see cause of their rarity, but they don't exactly do more then just look cute. They add no value to the game.

What is so special about the non combat pets these days?
These days, with the achievement system implemented, you get an achievement for collecting pets. The highest achievement concerning this is the one where you collect 50 pets called "Shop smart, shop pet... smart" Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart - Achievement - World of Warcraft. For this achievement you get pet nr 51: a skunk called Stinker Stinker - NPC - World of Warcraft.
The difficulty is that not all pets are from a vendor, some are from quests, seasonal events, and some even from vendors from the opposing faction. These are the ones were after.

Ok ok, you got me at "Stinker"... How can I make money with that?
Easy

1. Find someone from the other faction to help you
This one is the hardest part of it all. Find someone that is actually willing to help you out. These people can be found on the official fora (just make a thread like "LF a friendly hordie" and then in topic say "Looking for a horde to become my partner in some shady business. Succes guaranteed for both of us, contact me at [email protected])

2. Wait for a horde (or Alliance) to contact you, should go pretty fast
Waiting is boring, in the meantime, download auctioneer from Auctioneer addon for World of Warcraft and get an alt (if you have one high enough) to Bootybay. Provide him/her with 50G or something around that

3. Ring Ring, the member of the other faction added you
Explain him that this is about moneymaking, and that you and him could make a lot of money doing this.
Explain him that you are after the non combat pets, and explain your plan.

4. Tha Masterplan

If you are Alliance, you want him/her to get the following pets for you:
* Brown Snake (xan'tish - Orgrimmar)
* Black Kingsnake (xan'tish - Orgrimmar)
* Prairie Dog Whistle (halpa - Thunderbluff)
* Red Dragonhawk Hatchling (jilanne - Eversong Woods)
* Silver Dragonhawk Hatchling(jilanne - Eversong Woods)
* Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling(jilanne - Eversong Woods)
Don't bother with cockroaches and Crimson snakes since Alliance can buy these at a vendor in Netherstorm! These sell bad!


If you are Horde, you want him/her to get the following pets for you
* Cat carrier Cornish Rex (Donni Anthania - Elwyn Forest)
* Cat carrier Bombay (Donni Anthania - Elwyn Forest)
* Cat carrier Silver Tabby (Donni Anthania - Elwyn Forest)
* Cat carrier Orange Tabby (Donni Anthania - Elwyn Forest)
* Rabbit Crate Snowshoe - (Yarlin Amberstill - Amberstill range in Dun Morogh)
* Great Horned Owl (Shylenai - Darnassus)
* Hawk Owl (Shylenai - Darnassus)
* Blue Moth Egg (sixx - Exodar)
* White Moth Egg (sixx - Exodar)
* Yellow Moth Egg (sixx - Exodar)

the pets cost 50 silver each for both factions at their vendors.
Ask the horde to buy all those pets (20 of each kind - color is the amount I take) and then meet in Bootybay.

5. The collecting of pets
Since you putted an alt in Bootybay, this is easy. Just go and buy all the pets, let a magefriend help you, benefit from the shattrath portals, should take you somewhere between 10 - 45 minutes getting all those pets. Send them all to your alt.

6. Putting them on the auctionhouse
* Agree with the member of the opposing faction to sell the pets at 1 copper bid/1 copper buyout.
* Remember that it doesnt matter how long you put em on, since you get that deposit back right away.
* Fill up your bags with pets, let the guy on msn know that you start posting, post till your bags are empty.
* Now go and fill up your bags with pets again (from the mails in mailbox from your main) and tell the guy to start posting his pets.
* Remember to search AH for Miscellaneous -> pets and order em from cheap to expensive. Keep refreshing and buying.
* Once you bought all those, you start posting again. Why you should do it each in his turn? So you are sure you get some pets back Rinse and repeat till all the pets have switched owner. Check back in one hour for your deposit fees.

7. Gogo Auctionhouse
Now that you have all these pets, send em to your bankalt, and on your bankalt post the pets at the normal AH. Price depends upon server ofcourse, I post them for 25G each.

Try to get some pets in your bags from all kinds so you see all the different ones. For example as an alliance you will have 6 pets for sale (crimson snake and cockroach not included).
Make a macro saying:

/2 WTS all the available horde pets. 1 for 20G, 6 for 100G! Buy em fast!

people check AH, see the 25G ones and will be happy to buy pets from you since they are cheaper then the ones at AH
Don't spam the macro so you don't annoy people, I just relog to my bank like 5 times / evening and spam it once or twice with a 5 min interval.
You will get whisper from people lolling, flaming, telling you that its easy to get if you have 2 accounts and blablabla... Don't feel bad about this, they are the lazy ones, you did the work, so you get the profit.

How much money you can make from these depends from server to server, if you allready have a few peeps doing this you can still profit a bit.
I made about 3K with this in the last 5 days (evenings).

As a horde you can get a pet called Black Tabby from mages that roam in Silverpine forest and Alterac Mountains. Alliance can't get these, and on my server they happily pay 400-600G for one. They have a fairly low dropchance, but i heard from peeps that they never farmed long to get some Cat Carrier (Black Tabby) - Item - World of Warcraft

As an alliance there is a vendor that spawns in stormwind called Lil' timmy, who sells Cat Carrier - White kitten wich on my server goes for 400-600G. This is a rare vendor with a limited stock (1 cat) so this one is pretty crappy to get. Cat Carrier (White Kitten) - Item - World of Warcraft

A last pet that is maybe worth selling is the Ancona chicken. Lots of people don't even know it or where to get it, so these sell fast and easy at AH at about 10G/piece on my server. This pet can be bought at the Shimmering Flats.



Please, i know this is common sense for a lot of peeps, still a good moneymaker so worth repeating imo. Enjoy and good luck

Lots of people do this... but they usually have a guildie who has an alt horde...

My guild leader has a 50 horde that he uses to collect pets, I'll go to Neutral AH on my main and wait for him to post stuff, ???, Profit

Yeah did it myself about 10 times so far... Made more then 1500g.. Why that much, well im not greedy so i put pets 10-15g less then cheapest price on AH...

But lots of them dont know that....

The dragon hawk found in the belf starting place can be sold for a large amount, i knew other belfs wh had paid in excess if 25g to buy one XD
