Critter Kill Squad and Crittergeddon

As most of you will know there is a achievement in Cataclysm to get 50.000 critter kills with your guild.

And even 100.000 kills

I had been thinking about good spots to get this done and then I accidentally came across this area in Dragonblight. It's inside Agmar's Hammer. The coordinates are around 36.4 , 48.3

The critters here respawn almost instantly after being killed. So you can get a lot of fast kills by AOE-ing the hell out of this area. I don't know if alliance players will agro guards if they come in here, but they can probably land on the wall and AOE from there without having too much guard issues. Hordies can go mental either way.

I figured this is not a intended way to farm critters so I posted it here rather than guides.

Now put on those bug stomping boots and get going!

will killing critters now count toward the achievement or will it only be kills done while in a guild after the release of the achievement?

I don't believe it will count before the guild leveling system has been implemented.

we all know how to get that chieve and also know what happens if we kill 15 ^^. this spot is accesible to both alliance and horde

Actually, you just reminded me of another location I found like this in TBC that I took immense joy in murdering gophers in, let me see if I can find the spot again if it still works. I recall it having 3-4 instant re-spawning gophers.

Apparently yes, and they are called "Brown Marmots" which are part of a Horde quest I never knew existed. There are 3 and they are all instant respawn, you can find the spot here: Brown Marmot - NPC - World of Warcraft


Being a Druid, I wrote this amazingly simple macro that targets the Brown Marmots and swipes them gaining 3 kills / 3 sec. (as they are on a 3 sec respawn on closer examination)

Yes, anyone could make that but someone might not think to make a macro so it's a reminder if nothing else. Set up a rapid fire key and head to bed, wake up to thousands of dead adorable furry bodies.

Another Edit - Kill / hour math

3 kills / 3 sec = 60 kills / min
60kills x 60 minutes = 3600 kills PER HOUR
100000/3600=27 hours 48 mins for 100,000 kills

Not likely, since it's guild critter kills. You could have been in different guilds or others in a pug group could have been killing them.

I think the counter will start at launch of Cata.

wait till you get to uldum, there's a few sheep farms more or less in the center of the zone with 4-5 sheep herds that more or less instantly respawn, so you can have 4-5 people farm thousand of critters / minute :>

edit: I*ll get some ss's of the area

edit2: not sure if it adds up to more, but you can have 4 people with some small aoe farm endlessly here anyhow (unless it gets "nerfed" before going live)

edit3: just gotta add, we had some enthusiast in the beta guild one of my chars were in, they did the 100k achiev in a couple hours farming these

That should work, but the I believe there is only 2 trap gates and they only trap you every 10 mins or so. I guess it would work by going out the instance and resetting it.

There is a really good spot for Critters in Eastern Plaguelands. Follow the western coast, up to where the blood elf in the web is. There is a cave behind him with spiders there and lots of critters as well.
