Time until Blizzard bans for buying gold?
Hi there!
I bought roughly 2k gold (on two different classic Accounts, distributed over a few weeks). If blizz is going to ban my Accounts, how long does it usually take them?
Until the next banwave, a few days? Am I more or less safe after a week?
I'd appreciate your experiences. Ty in advance!

Thanks so far, but is there a certain time frame until Blizzard will not further look into what happened? So if they didnt catch me within like a month after I bought the gold, they won't ban me? Or do I have to fear for my Account for 2 years?

There is no statue of limitations lol. If the guy keeps selling gold on that same account then the risk is omnipresent because once one transaction is flagged they'll go back and look at all the toons logs.

And what about buying once (and never again)? How long does it usually take until blizz bans or warns me?
To me it is clear, that buying/selling steadily puts my Account at risk every single time.

Not sure if you understood what Measured meant. What he said, was that if the person you bought gold from continues to sell gold with the same account, if he ever gets caught they will look at all his previous transactions. So even if you bought from him one week, month or a year ago you are at risk.
It's not a matter of "how long until I'm safe", but a matter of "when will the seller get caught, and am I then at risk?".
If you buy gold from the same seller once or twice or several times does not matter if they check all his transactions when he's caught.
I do not have much experience when it comes to getting banned for buying gold, just trying to explain based on his info. Personally, I've never been banned for buying gold (on retail though, not classic), but the risk is always present.
Regarding your OP, how long they wait with the banwaves will surely vary from wave to wave. From reading a couple posts online about banwaves in Classic, it seems like they might do waves for each individual seller. So if you know someone who bought from the same guy as you did, and he got a ban and you didn't, I would take that as an indicator that you MIGHT be safe.

Indeed, I did not understand what Measured wanted to say - thank you for the clarification and for your thoughts.
I think I have my answers.

I've bought Gold many times on many characters. Never received even a slap on the wrist.

I did the same - spread over many many years - nothing ever happened.
Thats why I wanted to get some insights from people who were actually affected.
Apparantly, there is no rule of thumb or even a certainty that, given various parameters are met, that there will be any bans at all.
And that uncertainty is hard to stand.

He's completely wrong. They do ban for selling and buying gold. They just are not as active as in the past. Blizzard always bans in waves. So it most likely will come all at once. There's been posts here and on reddit of people saying that hit for abuse of economy etc with perma's and 6 months. (mostly perma's).

This is just not true. If you google it you will find examples of people being banned for buying gold in Classic (as I mentioned in my earlier post).
Edit: my friend actually got a 1 month ban yesterday for buying gold, disproving this false information.

Or maybe he lied to you and was using a fishing bot or something. Never been banned buying gold.
