State of gold buying on Anniversary?

I have seen a lot of Reddit posts (From a 3+ weeks ago) with people getting banned for buying gold. Are we fucked? I really can't be arsed farming gold myself (here comes the cliche!!) being a dad of 2 and working 08-16, so I really wanna just swipe. I have 100G to my name currently between a lvl 34 and 45, so there's a long way to epic mount when I eventually hit 60.
That's why Im thinking if I buy now and get banned, then meh, I'll save up rested while im banned.

What is the safest way to buy? Face-to-face trade or mail? Auction even maybe?

Buy in small amounts as needed and you are more likely to stay under the radar.
