Hi great guide im only having one problem.
The folders, CHARACTER, and Character are all you need to care about.
Go onto your hard drive and create a folder, named Textures.
Now go back into MWS and Right click on CHARACTER Then click Extract folder, Now you want to extract these files to the Texture folder we just created on are Hard drive.
Name the file c1. no reason, works for me (character1)
Now do the same for Character. When you save Character to the texture folder DO NOT save it in the CHARACTER folder.
Also name this c1
Now go back into MWS click file - Open MPQ Archive. WoWDirectory/data Then open patch.MPQ
Once opened you will see All the folders agian, Once more, CHARACTER and Character folders are all you need to worry about.
Now Do the same thing. Right click on CHARACTER and also save that to the Texture folder on your hard drive.
NOTE: do not get worried, When you open the Texture file that you exracted all those files to, it will only Have one folder in it Named CHARACTER. Just keep exracting the character folders to the texture folder. And naming all of them c1. After you have extracted both character folders from each MPQ, (common and patch) your texture folder should look like this.
problem on one thing.
I got 2 questions: 1) When doing common mpq. should there be two folders or only one.
2) During the patch.mpq i cant seem to combine them all into one folder can u go in depth on that part for me it will help hugely.
Im doing orc male into scourge male.

Well, When you open MWS and then open common.MPQ, what you need to to is find the folder(s) Character and CHARACTER,
You need to extract them.
1. Right click on CHARACTERS and select Extract Folder.
go to the Texture folder and save it there. (name it c1)
2. Right click on Characters and select Extract folder. (do exactly the same)
go to the Texture folder and save it there,(name it c1) do not save to the CHARACTER folder that appears after you extract the first folder.
Then open patch.MPQ
Now Do the same.
NOTE* Even thou you have extracted both character folders to our texture folder, Only one folder will appear named CHARACTER. Don't worry this is how it's supposed to be.
Right click:CHARACTER (under patch.MPQ) select Extract folder, find your textures folder again and do the SAME thing as you did with Common.MPQ,(name it c1) DO NOT SAVE TO THE CHARACTER folder, save to the Texture folder.
Then do the same with Character.(name it c1)
NOTE: All 4 of the files should have been named c1.
This should do it. Remember, Even thou we have extracted all 4 files to the Textures folder, Only ONE folder will appear inside the Texture folder (CHARACTER) - do not panic you have done it right.
Yeah, that's right.
ty for quick response gonna try it now
(cant stand orc rogues)
so at the end of doing:
Well, When you open MWS and then open common.MPQ, what you need to to is find the folder(s) Character and CHARACTER,
You need to extract them.
1. Right click on CHARACTERS and select Extract Folder.
go to the Texture folder and save it there. (name it c1)

i should have 2 folders correct?
when i click my orc it shows 2 folders named male and female also some facial.blp hair.blp and scalp.blp is this suppose to be there or did i screw up extracting the two folders at the beggining?
Sorry for all these questions i am a noob at this crap but when i did it all only problem i thought i had was the question i previously asked but the error i got was called
World of WarCraft (build 731
Exe: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe

Ok it worked perfectly, UD male to Orc Male, but the orc seems to have purple beard. Eh ?
When you open the textures folder only one folder should appear, (after extracting the 4 character folders from common.MOQ(CHARACTER, and Character) and patch.MOQ(CHARACTER, and Character)) That 1 folder is called CHARACTER, when you open that all the races should appear.
Dwarf
NightElf
BloodElf
etc..
Within EACH of the race folders there should be A Male and a Female folder and some .blp files. than more .blp files within the male/female folder. (Within female/male folders, there should be a file that says (ex.) NightElfMale.m2 or NightElfFemale.m2.)
From the looks of what you posted, you are doing this correctly, just stick to the guide, its pretty strait forward.
