------------Model editing is dead in Cataclysm. So that means this guide can't help you.---------------------
Hello ladies and gentlemen, It have come to my conclusion that some people are having problems with race swaps after 4.0.1. Especially skins.. So i've figuered a way to erase that problem.
So here is my noob friendly guide on how to overcome, for exampel this:
Example: http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/9809/rtyr.png
Pure beauty isn't it?...Anyways lets get serious.
And REMEMBER if u makes swaps with this guide and make a post about it. Atleast mention my guide in your swap please :>
But first two important things!
1). Get your models you want to swap. (Preferably Ubermonkeys race swaps since these are the ones i've used. http://www.mmowned.com/forums/world-...more-come.html
2). Get Merfed's Old Race conversions. http://www.mmowned.com/forums/world-...onversion.html
3). Download ladik's MPQ editor /Google it :>
Alright lets get started!
I'll make me a perfect Gnome female to Blood elf swap.
1. Extract the files you're going to use where ever you want, i prefer desktop.
2. Move into MPQ Editor and click "File" "Open MPQ(s)". Select the patch-Z one on your desktop /or whatever. Now select the files i've surrounded and right click "Extract". You can extract wherever you want, but i still prefer desktop...
3.Do This procedure one more time, but with the other swap you have on your desktop. REMEMBER to not extract them both to desktop, because if u do they'll overwrite..
4. Now you have 2 Character folders like in the picture:
5. Let the edit itself begin!
6. Go to the Character folder u extracted LAST(mine is luckily in big letters ) Once there u'll notice a bunch of Hair.Blp files under the (in my case) "Female" folder (IF THE HAIR BLP'S AREN'T THERE, SKIP OVER THIS STEP and start with step 7.). Select ALL of these files and "Ctrl + C". Now navigate to your other Character folder(which is probably on your desktop) And "Ctrl + V" to the place under (in my case) "Female" folder:
7.Go back to the same Character folder you started bringing your BLP files from. But this time you will go further in to the folder where you'll find alot of more BLP's :P:
8. "Ctrl + C" All these BLP's EXCEPT the ".m2" file at the top. Now you move back again to the other Character folder where you'll "Ctrl + V" all these files INSIDE the Female folder. They'll SOMETIMES tell you that there are already a file with that name so IF... Hit the mark in the corner and Click "Copy and Replace" (Otherwise just paste the Blps there and ur done).
This picture isn't really necessary to watch since first of all it is in win7 and second it is in swedish. u'll pretty much know what'll happen anyways. So...
.
9.Cheers! Now you got your skin sorted. So grab the "New" Character folder aswell as The "DBC files" and "Item" folder on your desktop(Dunnow if these two files are needed, but anyways bring them with you to the Worldofwarcraft/data folder and put them in the patch-Z.MPQ folder you hopefully have created there. Othwerwise just create one.
10. PROFIT.
Sometimes your hair will be messy if there are no hair blp's under female/male folder, but hey! You have perfect skin
EDIT: There seems to be some problems with Race X to Scourge male when it comes to the jaw.
It's really sad that people take help from my guide and does their own swaps and take a lot of credit for what they do and asks for rep. Atleast a "thank you" or +rep would be sitting fine if u find this guide helpfull. :<
