i recently came across the past post about how to turn the eyebrows off on a helm,

however ive read the breif tutorial over and over , and i just cannot derive how exactly you would go about using the two DBC files linked, in order to go about editing anything.
i aim to make it so that blood elf ears will show up on helms, where they normally do not.

I have no problem doing all the work myself, searching through the numbers and changing them and what not..i just dont even know where to start : /
i open up both DBC files mentioned in the post and im just staring at walls of numbers.
could anyone help explain to me exactly what must be done in order to make this edit?
help is greatly appreciated, especially if i could get the almighty schlumpf to help out with this one
