Training for skinning

Hello everyone

I have looked around on this page a little, and I have found a few tutrials and such, but I have the little problem that even if they explain things, they dont explain other things that I need to know, for example how to look at the skinns to know what will go where.
For short. I wonder if someone here could help me by being a "mentor" or something that way, and provide help in such a way, or if I that is too much to ask.

Its not really that hard that you need a mentor. If you read a tutorial once you find that its sooo simple.

I should have expected this...

As I can understand you think that I want to change Skin X to Skin Y, but that is not what I want, that is easy to do, I have seen the tutorials.
I want to take out Skin X, change it, and make wow load it. Everything there is easy, except for the fact that the skin itself is confusing. All creatures have a square image, with face, body, and other details spread over the image, and I have no idea where something will end up.
Even worse is trying to change an item-skin for a character, since it then usually is a stripped red blob, that I have no chance of seeing what it is. That is where the problem is, to see what I am doing. Changing skin, that I can do.

It's not that hard to find out where your change will end up, if u look at the .blp file or the "square" you will see that every part has as u said a face body etc etc. Just find out where these details are on the creature itself and ur good to go.

Okay, as you say, I will do so. Then just one, last, foolish question.
What is the image I sent with this supposed to be, and how do I look at it so that I can see? I been looking and looking and I just cant figure it out. I know it is a part of the arm, but still.
