No questions here. You can be banned for anything. You agreed to that fact when you signed onto world of warcraft for the first time and every patch thereafter.
Yes if you are caught using model changing as an advantage in PvP or PvE or a player(GM if they're watching) see's you, you can and most likely will be banned.
Then why do people do it and dose it help you in any way

Omg its been said a million times, Model editing is only bannable when u are using it for an Unfair Advantage, example Changing Zepp Paths or Changing Pvp in a way.
You CAN NOT get banned for Changing wepones, items, mounts,Charecter
WoW_King, don't say that with the certainty you did. I'll be cynical here. You [B]can/B] be banned for anything, anything at all. It's up to the GM to do it, and we all know how consistent GMs are.
I'll be realistic now. Look through the ToS again. They clearly state that you will not use any unapproved modifications in any way at any point during the game. The only "approved modifications" are add ons. CT_Raid is an example. All UI add ons are perfectly legal, unless blizzard says otherwise. Model Changing is against the rules as it is modifying the game, albiet not for such an obvious advantage like hacks. I know that in the past, some CMs and some uneducated(or merely misinformed GM's) have said that model changing for character looks is legal, but the ToS Still stands, model changing is illegal.
Now, I know I came off as unsupportive of model changing and perhaps mean, but do let me deter you from it: It is a gift of the highest order. I love model changing, I love it in all its forms. However: you can get it nerfed if you use it for malicious advantage.
But other than that, have fun!
