    [Custom Model / Help Request] Model is invisible ingame [2.4.3]

    Hello,

    I'm trying to get a custom model working on a 2.4.3 Private Server.

    Used this guide:

    I have a .3ds file and a finished texture, converted the .3ds file into a .m2 using 3dsToM2 (I have two versions, both give the same result).
    When I get the .m2 I add the texture using M2Modder. Both of these tools don't give me an error.
    Then I pack the .MPQ, Texture in root, .m2 in the correct folder for the weapon I try to swap, using the weapons filename.

    When I login, my Character Selection screen is black until I select a different character, after that the weapon just turns invisible.

    Does anybody know this problem and found a fix for it?
    Is there any step I might miss?

    I also don't know which 3dsToM2 versions I have. One of them supports textures, has a src folder and a readme, the other one is just a standalone .exe

    Hope somebody can help me out here.

    give 1 for example, or check in any hexeditor what version of m2 your 3dstom2 creates

    for tbc propper is 0401 if is 00 01 its vaniila wow, 08 01 LK

    your 3dsto m2 is probably for vanilla wow where bones, animation and submeshes are different of tbc models.

    got same problem with backporting tbc M2s to vanilla,

    the hex editor tip was a great help. One 3dstom2 (I have 3 by now) converted to 08 01, one to 00 01 and one (idk why) to 06 01.

    I figured this might be the problem earlier today so I searched for a while and found a zip with some tools on a chinese website containing a 3dstom2 and a m2tbc file.

    The 3dstom2 file converts to 00 01, however if I drop that m2 into the m2tbc it turns into 04 01.

    So I tried some stuff:

    Original vanilla m2 into m2tbc > 04 01, worked in game.
    Original vanilla m2 not into m2tbc > black screen.

    Original Lichking m2 into m2tbc > error

    After that I put my 3ds file into the converter, 00 01, then into m2tbc, 04 01 and put it in an mpq.

    For some reason I decided NOT to include the texture.

    It worked, it's a green model but at least it worked.
    When I included the texture again, it crashed. So I guess my problem is the texture.

    I uploaded the 3dstom2 and m2tbc from that chinese site since it seems to be pretty rare and you have to register (and then are limited to 1 download at first).

    Just tried to put a 04 01 into m2tbc, turned into a 00 01, might even help you out.
    Tell me if it helps.

    Got it to work, texture size was wrong, duh.

    Glad to help you.
    You can also use WOTLK models from alpha client, they also compatybile with tbc, so u can have monsters and doodads.
    And 3ds2m2 outputs only static models , no animations and no collision. .T
