Flame Effect on Demon Crystals in Silvermoon

I recently took up texture editing and decided to do a re-texture to go along with a patch I found here to turn Silvermoon blue. I decided to make the Demon Crystals purple for some variety, and unfortunately I ran into this issue.




As you can see the flame is obstructing the purple recolor I did to the crystal. As I said I'm a bit new to texture editing and things in general so if someone can point me in the right direction of either recoloring the flame or preferably getting rid of it altogether that would be appreciated.
