posted a quick little work-around for you guys to play with. I'm definitely no expert and some of you can probe this deeper than I could, but the least I could do is get texture edits to work. Model changing/morphing is still MIA though. Have fun!

So you mean that they're now using an cipher to check bugs/viruses? That doesn't even make sense... Even that they would all sudden use cryptology on a game which would take half the performance to just to decrypt all data coming ONLY from the "offline" loadings..

I wouldn't suspect that Blizzard have done any model-editing "system" changes due to the fact that they would then have to wipe out their entire DB and then make new settings / ways which would force them to pull the plug on wow for about 1+ month to make an temporary solution to stop model editing.

I just spoke to a GM about it.
He said that all "home-made" MPQs are illegal and players should avoid using them.
This update was simply to fully disallow custom MPQs.

That's how it's always been. MPQ edits have been against the rules ever since people started using them to edit maps and remove objects, so of course you're going to get GMs telling you it's against the rules to stymie the influx of new editors, minus a few lax ones here and there who will tell you like it is: if it's not harmful and not detectable there's no problem.

I'm fairly certain (just a hunch, of course) that the update didn't target MPQs in particular. However, they were updating the way WoW loads files and decided it would be a good time to also remove custom MPQ support.

Exactly. Looks like we'll have to stick with the edgy, lame models until they make new ones :<

Well... if music is what you wish, I suggest you try the addon Soundtrack... it lets you assign your own music to every zone/subzone in the game, as well as certain events like taking off on a flight path, though not all of them work. Best of all it even seems like its biggest flaw was fixed in the latest update.
