Thought on DBC edits not working

Could it that DBC editors need to be updated? I extracted a lot of DBC files that could not be read in DBC editors. Any thoughts on this?

DBC files were updated in 4.0.1, you'll have to wait for a new editor.

I was able to open Spell.dbc no problem, browse the columns, and change the codes for the icon and spell effects.

My current issue is not reading them, but to have my WoW client pick up the files and use them.

I know something isn't working because even when I place old spell.dbc edits in the files, my game still loads, and doesn't produce any errors.

Is it an issue of placement? Where would I need to place spell.dbc to get it to load?
