Crashing BLP converter, plain green items, and a whole lot of hair pulling

    Hey there.

I'm new to model editing in WoW, and having serious issues with my first real attempt at recoloring an armor set. I've read the guides, trolled the forums, and exhausted my googling abilities, but I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Programs I'm using : Photoshop CS3, MWCS, BLP converter off hive (also tried BLPlab and Paint.net with the BLP plugin)

Here's what happens: I follow the steps highlighted in the guides, edit my tga in photoshop.I have experimented with both RgB and indexed color modes, the crashing happens only with indexed colors. I save it, pop it into the BLPconv and it does nothing. BLP labs has a random access error and crashes when I try to select the tga under browse. Paint.net... well, it will save it, but I get the result in the screenshot below (this also happens when I convert an RGB mode tga, those don't crash either converter.)

Edit : I tried it again with Tech's converter, this time got that the tga format wasn't valid.

Any advice or help anyone can offer on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Search blp > png converter.

As for the green texture - most of the time the size is incorrect. It needs to be 512 x 512 or 1024 x 1024. Not 512 x 500 for example.

    Thanks for the response
I've been keeping the size the same as what MWCS quotes it at, in this case 256x128. Should I be changing this to a squared size? Also, should I be using an indexed color mode or a RBG mode (or does it even matter?)

If it says 256 x 128 then let it be like that. And try indexed colors, from my experience it's always the best. Indexed colors PNG that is. But most of the time green texture is because the loaded texture is incorrect, either thanks to the size or maybe wrong treepath.

Awesome. Converting to PNG and back worked like a charm, no green texture to be found. Thank again, I do appreciate it.
