    blackpixles :/

    Heya,

    Since some time now i am experimentating with model editing ... well at the moment its more like just texture editing :X
    And here we come to my problem/question;
    at the sides of the weapon some strange black pixles appered, they are not there if i open the modded file with winmpq or anything but ingame, also if i open the files with blp converter the picture seems compressed (no smoth change from dark to bright area, still ingame [exept the black pixles] it looks "normal")
    [URL=http://img175.imageshack.us/i/test1zo.jpg/]

    How do i get rid of those pixles?

    [using 2.4.3 client/server]

    Thumbnail not working.

    But if theres blck pixels around it I guess you got some black spots on the BLP file. Try a different converter. Or if you are 100% sure it isn't the converter (do png > blp and then blp > png and check if the png is still the same) then try saving it in index colors in photoshop.

    <- before
    <- after

    i extracted the unedited file from patch.mpq and simply changed the colors
    after converting the png back to the blp file and converting it again back to png seems compressed ... but still not like ingame

    i guess its the converter
    gonna check for an updated one

    edit:
    meh
    when i open them on my computer they also look totaly different as when i upload them
    still you should see a difference ... which is totaly different to the problem ingame ... /confused

    Well, if the after pic is your BLP then your problem is, you lightened it too much up. The colors are, well how must I put it, screwed up. Did you tried saving it as indexed colors?

    Hm, dunnow if that program also supports indexed colors, but frankly, changing contrast is usually not the way to edit textures imo, it really mess it up sometimes.

    I know now that the problem was the microsoft editor.
    I downloaded Paint.NET and a other converter which doesn't creates .png files but .tga ones...
    Tho i have there at the moment the same problem, the pictures seem compressed as above :X
