    Race Changing Question

    Hello model-editers.

I recently started using model editing, and I'm somehow disappointed of it. For example when I put a .MPQ file in my data folder, EVERYONE becomes what I want to. Is this normal?

For example, if I switch NE Male to UD male, every NE male is an UD male.

Yes that's normal. If you change in the .MPQ for NE males to become UD males, everytime a NE male is created, it will read from the MPQ how to look, and will make itself a UD male.

That is correct. The basic of model editing is swapping a existing model with another model. And guess what, Blizzard re-uses all the models in game so of course everything is swapped. To be more specific, in the MPQ you only find 1 undead model. But there exists like over nine thousand in the actual WoW? That is because WoW use the same undead model in the MPQ for every undead in the game. The same with weapon swaps, Blizzard use 1 model and then ton of other players got the same weapon.

    So TL;DR

No, you cannot make a change for your own, unless you own Blizzard servers and import your unique model.

Ah, thanks a lot for the good answer - then model editing doesn't really sound that much fun as I thought.. ):

You can use the Undead Male Illusion and make a core edit so your character alone always has that aura on them.

Depends, I like model editing simply because I make my own custom weapons, and for me that is also a way to identify what sort of gear a player has lol. I don't really care if I see ton of other players with the same weapon I created for that purpose for example. And besides, most people that model edit is because they hate something and want to change it, although it is not for your own specific uses, if you solo things then you aren't bothered by it so it doesn't really matter.

Well, that is true for sure. I've been a Night Elf for 5 years, and a boomkin for almost as long; the problem is just I think I'd get confused in arena if I suddenly just saw some "fel orc boomkin" or "human night elf". But guess that just needs to be learned.
