completely changing models

I see most edits for character models here are either simple swaps or deformations (e.g. all those breast augmentation edits :P). I was wondering if it was possible to completely change a character model... like swapping them for something you created yourself from scratch with a 3d modeling program. It would be cool if you could swap the current models for more hi res models that contain higher number of vertices.

there are some problems with that kind of question. u see, models arent just a one-piece objects. common model of human consists of tonns of elements like different feet models for different items and so on. so u would have to make a lot of v hard work for this. besides textures is what makes model really brilliant and u'll have to remake alot of them as well.

but so on the main problem is just there would be really a bunch of hard work to make and that is why even blizzard have no ETA for updated models
