    Thick belts to flat?

    Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can give me some tips as for how to make a belt with a model (like this one) into an ordinary flat belt. (and not through DBC/cache editing) I could probably work out the texturing, but I'm not sure about the model part...

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure the belt's "model" is part of the player character model, unlike helms and shoulders. I'm also pretty sure you'd need to do it through DBC. Not exactly sure how, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was done using ItemDisplayInfo.dbc, as that's also where you change normal pants to robes and vice versa (as far as I know, anyway), which is the same principle.

    Might help a little: ItemDisplayInfo.dbc - WoW.Dev Wiki

Hmm, okay thanks. Think I'm not gonna bother, then. Last time I tried DBC editing some (completely different) models ended up being small cubes. And is it not true I would need to redo it every time new stuff is added to the game?

You'd only need to redo it if the DBC file in question was updated with the patch. I think this particular file happens to get that a lot, though.

Ah tits, didn't actually think your question through. If you're just switching two belts rather than changing one belt's appearance to be smaller, you could do it with a cache edit and it should get the right "model" without needing to do complex things. Try Glitchy's model swapper.

I think when I tried cache editting (manually) this belt last time, it worked, except the parts of the thick belt texture that wasn't overlapped by the other belt (since the thick belt is also vertically larger), still showed up on my character. I'll see if this app has the same problem. I'm guessing it does.
